Best Specializations in The Finals

All Specializations ranked!

In The Finals, your contestant's loadout consists of a Weapon, three Gadgets, and a Specialization. The latter determines what unique combat or survival ability you want your character to have. Here's a ranking list of all Specializations in the game.

To change your gear, go to the Contestants menu and select Edit for the Build you want to modify. Specialization will be the first gear in the Loadout tab and you'll be able to select from one of three options.

Below I've ranked these special abilities from best to worst based on their overall effectiveness and power. That said, all the Specializations are situational and you can't go wrong with any of them, so don't refrain from giving everything a try.

Best Specializations for Light Build in The Finals

  1. Grappling Hook: A very easy-to-use tool, the Grappling Hook allows you to travel long distances fast and evade enemies swiftly. It's my favorite because while the enemies are taking stairs or ziplines to a roof, I can easily grapple there before them using this Specialization.
  2. Evasive Dash: While engaging in a gunfight or simply moving across the map, you can use this ability to quickly dash in front or sideways. The distance covered isn't that much, but it's enough to throw the enemy's aim off of you for a moment.
  3. Cloaking Device: When active, this device makes you completely vanish while stationary and turns you almost invisible while moving, which is great for getting in and out of tricky situations. Instead, you can use the Vanishing Bomb Gadget which also has the same effects but can also turn your teammates invisible.

Best Specializations for Medium Build in The Finals

  1. Healing Beam: Perhaps the most important tool in The Finals as it allows you to heal your teammates quickly and prepare them for the next fight, better yet, you can even use this equipment during combat.
  2. Guardian Turret: A Guardian Turret can be considered an automated defense weapon that you can place at Cashouts to protect the machine from enemies trying to steal it. Try not to make the turret's placement obvious by placing it on the floor, prefer walls and ceiling instead.
  3. Recon Senses: Although it doesn't last very long, you can activate Recon Senses and it'll highlight enemies around you even through walls and objects. A Sonar Grenade has the same function, but its range isn't nearly as far reached.

Best Specializations for heavy Build in The Finals

  1. Mesh Shield: What's better than a projected shield that blocks incoming bullets and allows your teammates to shoot through it? It provides instant cover to you and your squad, however, the Mesh Shield has a limited health of 1250 that can be recharged by a Healing Beam.
  2. Charge N Slam: As the name implies, you can use this special ability to slam through objects and walls, which saves precious time if you can't find an entrance. Moreover, you can slam attack enemies to lower their health or eliminate them if they are weak on HP.
  3. Goo Gun: The Goo Gun may not seem that powerful but it's an extremely fun tool to use. You get infinite ammo of goo that you can shoot to block off entrances and prevent enemies from stealing your Cashout.
