Owlcat Games has revealed the first batch of voice actors for Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, and anyone who spent a few dozen hours aboard the Rogue Trader's voidship is going to recognize some familiar voices.
The announced cast includes Aaron Sinn as Haymar Devos, Jonathan Cox as Cogg, Brittany Chanel as Epione Spes, Stephen Spencer as Saro, Rhiannon Moushall as Ra'khti, Chris Sharpes as Laarthyr Cairnareth, and Ian Russell as Servo-Ossuarium.
It's already a wonderfully Warhammer collection of characters: a former Catachan Devil, an unusually intelligent Ogryn, a pyromantic psyker, a Kroot exile, an Aeldari corsair, and several floating human skulls. Just another perfectly normal Inquisitorial workday.
Rogue Trader Veterans Return for Dark Heresy
The most immediately recognizable name is Ian Russell, who voiced Abelard Werserian in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. Abelard became one of that game's most popular companions and, more importantly, the man you could reliably order to introduce you whenever announcing yourself personally felt beneath the dignity of a Rogue Trader.
This time, Russell voices Servo-Ossuarium, a collection of servo-skulls assigned to assist the player's Inquisitorial retinue. From respected naval officer to flying ossuary is certainly one way to demonstrate range.
Chris Sharpes, who voiced Pasqal Haneumann in Rogue Trader, also returns, this time as Laarthyr Cairnareth, an Aeldari corsair and powerful psyker. Meanwhile, fellow Rogue Trader veteran Rhiannon Moushall plays Ra'khti, a Kroot scout exiled from her tribe.
Jonathan Cox, previously heard in Owlcat's Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, voices Cogg, a Bone'ead Ogryn with enhanced intelligence and fierce loyalty to the Imperium.
Dark Heresy Is Going Even Deeper Into Warhammer 40K's Grim Side
The companion lineup also reinforces how different Dark Heresy will be from Rogue Trader. Instead of playing an absurdly wealthy voidship-owning aristocrat with enormous authority, you'll take the role of an Inquisition acolyte, investigating cults, conspiracies, disease, xenos activity, and whatever other nightmare the Imperium has managed to hide beneath several layers of bureaucracy.
The game is set in the Calixis Sector and will put greater emphasis on investigation, evidence gathering, and drawing conclusions alongside Owlcat's familiar turn-based combat. Owlcat says this is only the first round of casting announcements, with more voice actors and companions still to be revealed.
Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy currently has no final release date, but it is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
