In Winter Ember, you play Arthur Artorias on a quest to seek vengeance for the murder of his family. Along the way, you will encounter various side quests that can earn you some extra gold or items. One of these is the The Jewel of Beatrix quest. This may leave you wondering how to complete the The Jewel of Beatrix quest in Winter Ember.

This quest is initiated by speaking to Beatrix at her home in Midgown. She comes across as a crazy old lady, accusing you of being her son or an accomplice of her son who seeks her hidden treasure. Unfortunately, she cannot remember where the treasure is, so if you want it for yourself, you need to find it.

You will want to head to Beatrix's room, where she has a safe. A note on the bed gives you a clue on how to open the safe, claiming the combination is the number of winters her son has seen. It also says he is half her age of 64.

How to open Beatrix's safe in Winter Ember

To open Beatrix's safe in Winter Ember, you need to set the combination to 032. This is the number of winters her son has seen. Inside the safe are a key and a note explaining the treasure hidden under a tree outside her home. Opening the chest reveals her son has already looted it. We have marked the safe's location with a red star and the tree with a yellow star.

Return to Beatrix, who again accuses you of working with her son to steal her valuables. She demands you retrieve it from her son, who is frequently at the brothel at night. Set across town to the brothel and search for Frederick, her son.

You need to use the side room in the lobby to sneak through an air duct. This takes you behind the counter and the women working there. Swipe the key on the desk behind and unlock the last door on the left. Inside is a sleeping Frederick and a chest containing Beatrix's diamond. This leaves you a choice of selling it or returning it.

Should you sell or return Beatrix's diamond?

We recommend returning the diamond to Beatrix. If you sell the diamond, you only receive 200 gold, which isn't hard to come by. Giving her the diamond will reward you with a much more valuable skill token.
