Like with all other survival games, you will have to collect and hoard a lot of materials for crafting, as well as food and useful tools. Since you have a weight limit to your backpack, here's how to get storage space in Winter Survival for everything you collect.
How to get more inventory in Winter Survival
Your backpack inventory isn't limited by slot number but by weight. If you carry too much weight, you risk injuring your ankle. To avoid that, you should get more inventory in Winter Survival for your cabin.

You will have a chest at the base cabin already from the start, where you can put away a lot of your things. However, this chest, just like your backpack, is limited by weight as well. You'll fill it up quickly, so you will need to make extra chests.
To make one Small Wooden chest, you will need Softwood Log Chunks x20 and Rope x4. The rope is easy to make; you craft it from five tall grass. Wood may seem easy, but you won't be able to get it for a while.
First you will have to complete the In The Footsteps of Friends quest. Once you fall off the bridge and into the cave, you'll find a Softwood Stone Axe impaled in one of the barrels to the right of the path. When you get this axe for the first time, you'll also get the recipe for it, as its a breakable item. To make one, you'll need:
- Rock x2
- Branch x1
- Rope x1
Make extra as these aren't very durable. With the axe equipped, you're now free to go to any of the trees and chop them down. However, make sure you avoid the bigger trees, as you will need something sturdier for them. Try to make at least four or five Small Chests, as you will definitely need them with how much material you will be collecting.
