We’ve listed the three best Mr Fox builds in Megabonk that you can use to start completing some quests and getting those unlocks. Mr Fox is another starter character in Megabonk, available to play right from the start without completing any quests or challenges. He's a ranged character with decent agility, and he becomes a very good DPS character if you build him right, especially for the earlier tiers and stages.
Best Mr Fox Megabonk Builds

Mr Fox has the luck on his side and a decent ranged weapon. So, we’ve come up with three very fun and efficient Megabonk builds that make full use of his passive and get the best out of his weapon. If you're looking for the best builds for every character in Megabonk, we got you covered.
1. Projectile Storm Build
This build will cover the entire screen with projectiles, killing and exploding enemies left, right, and centre.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Firestaff Lightning Staff Bananarang Aegis/Aura | Quantity Tome Damage Tome Cooldown Tome XP Tome | Moldy Cheese Clover Time Bracelet Credit Card (Green) Credit Card (Red) Gym Sauce Oats Medkit Battery Boss Buster Demonic Blood Backpack Demonic Soul Dragonfire Anvil |
Why It Works: Once you’ve survived the slow start, this Mr Fox build will have so many projectiles hovering all over the map that enemies simply can’t break through. Aegis or Aura, whichever weapon you go for, will take care of any enemies or boss hits that do break through.
This is the best build for Mr Fox in Megabonk because you can get the Holy Trinity (XP + Luck + Cursed) effects while still using the Tome slots for damage and weapon improvement. You’ll get XP from the XP Tome, Luck from Mr Fox’s passive, and use the Cursed Shrines to increase difficulty. Scaling will be quicker and smoother because you’re constantly improving damage, too.
Weapon Synergies
All four Megabonk weapons perfectly synergize with the top three Tomes. The Items list is a long one, but with improved Luck, you won’t have much trouble getting them.
- Aegis/Aura: Essential defensive layer that blocks incoming projectiles and melee attacks
- Firestaff + Lightning Staff: Dual elemental coverage with overlapping AoE
- Bananarang: Provides consistent chip damage and screen coverage

2. The Kiting Fox Build
If you want to explore the maps with Mr Fox, you’ll need to improve his mobility while still keeping his DPS in check. This build ensures you get decent damage output, but minimizes incoming damage by kiting.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Firestaff Revolver Bone Aura/Aegis | Quantity Tome Cooldown Tome Damage Tome Agility Tome | Moldy Cheese Clover Time Bracelet Forbidden Juice Gas Mask Demonic Blade Battery Coward’s Cloak Turbo Socks Turbo Skates Dragonfire |
Why It Works: The core idea of this build is similar to Build 1- kill enemies and keep your distance. But the improved agility and the addition of Lifesteal make this build a little more forgiving.
All four weapons will scale together with the Quantity, Cooldown, and Damage Tome. Just make sure you catch the occasional Projectile Bounce you get for Revolver and Bone. Revolver synergizes with Forbidden Juice and Demonic Blade to provide Lifesteal, which will be further amplified with Bone and Aura (if you go for it).
Items play a crucial role in this build. If you can’t get Demonic Blade or Gas Mask early on, it’s better to switch to Build 1.
3. Foxy Crits Build
A slightly unorthodox build, but with the right weapons and tomes, you can turn Mr Fox into a crit machine. This build, like the other two, also relies on Mr Fox’s RNG-improving luck. If you can’t obtain the right weapons and tomes, consider switching to a different build.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Firestaff Revolver Katana Flamewalker | Precision Tome Damage Tome Cooldown Tome Bloody Tome | Gym Sauce Oats Medkit Clover Time Bracelet Forbidden Juice Brass Knuckles Demonic Blade Grandma’s Secret Tonic Giant Fork Dragonfire |
Why It Works: This build relies on buffing your crit stats as early and as quickly as possible. Mr Fox’s 1% Luck increase per level will make light work of that. Mix that with the Precision Tome and two crit-heavy weapons (Revolver and Katana) and you’ll soon have multiple crit projectiles all over the screen. Flamewalker and Firestaff will also add a handy burn damage to your arsenal when paired with Dragonfire.
The only problem here is defense. Going all out on Crit and Damage and no Aura/Aegis will leave you open to taking hits. That’s why you’ll need Lifesteal.
If you can’t get that up and running quickly enough, swap Flamewalker for Aegis or Aura and replace the Bloody Tome with HP/Regen Tome to strengthen your defenses instead of going for Lifesteal. However, Lifesteal is the better choice when going for a Crit-based build.

Build 1 is clearly the best build for Mr. Fox, but if you want to try something different, the other two builds are also highly effective. Items and stats you pick from the Charge Shrines will be very important in Build 2 and 3. If you can get relevant items, change your build, or you'll soon end up dead.
Mr Fox Starting Weapon and Stats
Mr Fox begins every run with the Firestaff, a ranged weapon that launches fireballs, dealing area-of-effect (AoE) damage on impact. As you level up and increase projectile size and quantity, the Firestaff transforms into an exceptional crowd control weapon capable of handling large enemy groups.
Strenghts | Weaknesses | Passive |
---|---|---|
Excellent scaling: Luck passive improves throughout the run Strong ranged DPS: Safe distance gameplay Flexible build paths: Works with multiple weapon combinations Beginner-friendly: Available immediately, forgiving playstyle | Slow early game: First 3-5 minutes can be challenging RNG dependent: Some builds require specific item drops Lower base HP: Requires defensive items or kiting | Increases your Luck stat by 1% per character level |
