Robinette might have dethroned Sir Chadwell as the meta character of Megabonk after the latest patch, but he is still a solid character. His late-game scaling is one of his biggest strengths that makes you forget about the slow and weak start. In this guide, you’ll find three solid Sir Chadwell builds that will help you get the best out of Sir Oofie’s wife’s boyfriend!
Best Sir Chadwell Builds in Megabonk
The best builds for Sir Chadwell are the ones that either embrace his passive (difficult) or try to outpace its scaling (easier choice). You can go for Build 1 and 2 if you’re not big on Difficulty. Build 3 is the go-to for players who can handle stronger enemies for faster scaling.
Build 1 - DPS Chadwell
The primary goal of this build is to outpace or at least keep up with the passive Difficulty scaling by increasing damage output. Here are the weapons and tomes that can help do that.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Corrupted Sword Aura Dexecutioner Bananarang/Bone | XP Tome Luck Tome Damage Tome Quantity Tome/Size Tome | Gym Sauce Clover Time Bracelet Medkit Ice Cube Beer Battery Boss Buster Brass Knuckles Backpack Beefy Ring Demonic Soul Anvil |
Why It Works: This build depends on getting the XP and Damage Tome early. With these two tomes and an Anvil in the mix, you’ll quickly upgrade all your weapons so they can keep up with the enemies that will get stronger every time you level up. Even if you don’t get Anvil early, the Damage Tome and items like Gym Sauce, Beer, and Demonic Soul should provide a big enough flat boost until your weapons start snowballing.
Quantity or Size Tome will also increase your DPS for every weapon. If you get the Quantity Tome first, pick Size upgrades from level-up rewards and Charge Shrines. Go the other way if you get the Size Tome early. Attack Speed is also a good stat to choose when a direct damage boost is unavailable.
Build 2 - Safe Chadwell
If you want to play it safe and enjoy Sir Chadwell instead of trying to climb up the leaderboard, try this build.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Corrupted Sword Aegis Dexecutioner Katana | Size Tome Damage Tome Cooldown Tome Quantity Tome | Oats Medkit Gym Sauce Feathers Spicy Meatball Battery Demonic Blood Backpack Beefy Ring Demonic Soul Chonkplate Holy Book |
Why It Works: This build creates a mix of damage and survivability. Corrupted Sword, Dexecutioner, and Katana will do the damage dealing, scaling with Damage, Size, Cooldown, and Quantity Tome. Aegis, Chonkplate, and Holy Book will boost your survivability. The same goes for Oats and Medkit.
The damage scaling can keep up with the passive difficulty scaling of Sir Chadwell, but don’t activate the Greed Shrines early or at least until you’re doing 2x Damage.

Build 3 - The Two Trifectas
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Corrupted Sword Dexecutioner Aura Katana | XP Tome Luck Tome Cursed Tome Size Tome | Anvil Sucky Magnet Joe’s Dagger Time Bracelet Medkit Oats Beefy Ring Forbidden Juice Grandma’s Secret Tonic Ice Cube Moldy Cheese Cursed Doll Demonic Blood Boss Buster |
Why It Works: XP Tome, Luck Tome, and Cursed Tome, along with Anvil, Sucky Magnet, and Joe’s Dagger, carry this build. You’re constantly leveling up, getting great upgrades for all your weapons, and the Size Tome is doing the rest. No Damage, Cooldown, or Quantity Tome, so you will have to add those via weapon upgrades, charge shrines, and updates. But with the Luck Tome, that wouldn’t be a problem.
As with every other Sir Chadwell build, you’ll start slow due to Corrupted Sword. However, once you have Dexecutioner or Aura, you can speed up scaling and farming by picking the XP Tome and the Cursed Tome. Charging the Greed Shrines will also help, but don’t get too greedy because Sir Chadwell’s passive will increase difficulty, too.
If you get Anvil and Sucky Magnet early on Stage 2, you can really go on to have a leaderboard run with this build.
Sir Chadwell Starter Weapon and Passive
Sir Chadwell’s starter weapon is the Corrupted Sword, a slightly better version of Sir Oofie’s Sword, but still quite slow and weak early on. It shoots two projectiles, one forward and one backwards, and does more damage when your HP is low. It scales with Quantity, Size, Cooldown, and Damage Tome.
You must get the Cursed Tome to Level 20 within 10 minutes to unlock the Corrupted Sword in Megabonk.
Strengths | Weaknesses | Passive |
---|---|---|
Excellent farming: His passive increases enemy spawns, allowing you to farm more XP for quick progression. Late-game scaling: Things start slow, but snowball quickly for excellent mid and late-game scaling. Versatile: Can easily pivot to different playstyles depending on the Weapons, Tomes, and Items you get. | Increasing difficulty: Players who don’t like to boost difficulty will have a hard time due to his passive. | Gain 1% Difficulty per level. Deals increased damage at low HP. |
Megabonk Sir Chadwell FAQs
Sir Chadwell is one of the hardest characters to unlock in Megabonk because you need to unlock the corrupted Sword and complete Desert Tier 3. Once you complete these two objectives, you’ll also need 21 Silver to purchase Sir Chadwell.
No, Sir Chadwell’s passive of 1% Difficulty increase per level can not be activated. You must scale your weapons and their damage to keep up with the increase in difficulty. If you don’t like the Difficulty stat but still want to play with Sir Chadwell, try Build 1 or 2 from above.
Sir Chadwell’s passive is a 1% increase in Difficulty per level. This means that every time you level up, enemies will get stronger and faster, and their spawn rate will increase as well. They will have a bigger health pool, and they’ll also do more damage to you. Elites and Bosses get bigger damage and health boost than the mobs.
