Hunty Zombie dropped a massive update that brought another weapon, a new gamemode called Payload, another progression mechanic called Skill Tree, and a lot more. It’s easily one of the best updates the game has had, and this Hunty Zombie Payload Update guide will answer all your questions about Payload, the Skill Tree, and everything else. So, let’s dive right in!
How to Play the Payload Mode in Hunty Zombie

The Payload is another objective-based gamemode where players have to protect a payload from attacking zombies. You can go at it alone or play in a team, much like the other game modes on Hunty Zombie.
Here’s how to set up a Payload match in Hunty Zombie:
- Launch Hunty Zombie.
- Go to the Play area and walk into one of the sections to create a match.
- Set the number of players and then click on Mode.
- Select Payload. It’s the last option on the list and can only be played on the City map right now.
Once the game loads, you’ll be on the City map with different power-ups scattered on both sides of the road and a bus driving on it. The goal is to protect that bus and kill all the zombies before they destroy it.
While protecting the bus, you’ll also have to complete other tasks like fixing the punctured tires of the bus and removing obstacles on the road. That’s why playing the Payload solo is quite difficult because the zombies attack from all directions and, once the payload gets destroyed, the match ends.

How to Get Payload Tokens in Hunty Zombie
Along with the Payload gamemode, you’ll also find the Payload Shop in the Lobby, where you can purchase items like:
- More Emotes.
- Lucky Weapon Spins.
- Lucky Perk Spins.
- Trait Gems.
- Normal Weapon Spins.
You’ll need Payload Tokens to purchase items from the Payload Shop, and these can only be obtained via the Payload gamemode. Every time you clear the Payload, you’ll receive anywhere between 1 to 3 Payload Tokens.
How to Get the Sledgehammer in Hunty Zombie

The Sledgehammer is a Legendary weapon in Hunty Zombie and can only be obtained via the Weapons Gacha. You can use the Normal Spin or the Lucky Spin to roll for the Sledgehammer. There’s a 2.4% chance of getting the Sledgehammer with a Normal Spin and a 36% chance if you use a Lucky Spin. Redeem the latest Hunty Zombie Codes if you don’t have any Lucky Spins.
Hunty Zombie Sledgehammer Moveset Overview
| Skill | Effect |
|---|---|
| Basic Attack - Left Mouse Button Move | Starts a four-move combo, swinging the hammer at the zombies three times and then slamming it on the ground for AoE damage. |
| Glacial Impact - Z Move | Slam the hammer on the ground to spawn a line of ice spikes to deal AoE damage. |
| Permafrost Spin - X Move | Swing the hammer and slam it towards the ground. |
| Blizzard Maelstorm - C Move | Spin the hammer above your head to knock back zombies and deal damage. |
| Sledgehammer Ultimate - G Move | Spawn multiple ice spikes around your character to deal multi-hit damage. |
How to Open the Skill Tree in Hunty Zombie
The Skill Tree is a new progression mechanic that allows players to create certain builds in Hunty Zombie. Players can follow four paths- Attack, Defense, Crit, and Speed. Each path will buff the main stat but debuff a secondary one. For example, unlocking a Defense Skill will increase your Defense stat but decrease your Attack stat. So, it’s a trade-off, and you have to decide which ones are worth it.
Click on Profile and then click on the Skill Tree button in the bottom left corner of your screen.

Hunty Zombie Payload FAQs
The Sledgehammer is a melee weapon that deals heavy damage, but it can be slow. Try to get the Prodigy trait or the Beast trait to improve attack speed and get extra damage. Agility III is also a good choice if you can’t get the higher-rarity traits.
Adrenaline is the best Perk to use with Sledgehammer as it will directly increase the weapon’s attack speed, massively improving the DPS. Flame also works well with the AoE attacks of Sledgehammer.
To progress your Skill Tree in Hunty Zombie, you need a specific amount of Skill Tree Points. You can’t progress if you don’t have the right tokens and don’t have the required amount.
To progress through the Skill Tree, you need Skill Tree Points. You can earn Skill Tree Points by playing the Payload gamemode. Similar to the Payload Tokens, you can earn 1 to 3 Skill Tree Tokens every time you clear a Payload run.
