However, there are concrete steps you can take to improve your progression and earn a steady stream of money, allowing you to upgrade your gear, buy better equipment, and progress through the story. If you follow these recommendations, we guarantee you won’t get stuck or soft-lock yourself, but expect some grinding along the way. That’s just the nature of the game.

Complete Quests to Earn Gold

This might sound obvious, but you’d be surprised how many players just ignore quests and wander around like it’s a sandbox, instead of treating it like a quest-driven RPG. So my first piece of advice is simple: always focus on completing as many of the available quests as you can before they become too hard.

Clearing your quest log will give you much-needed XP to level up, a decent amount of gold, and will often unlock new quests and gameplay systems. Sometimes, you’ll even get item rewards that you can use or sell for extra gold. Only when you become too weak to continue with new quests is it okay to ignore them and focus on grinding and other parts of the game.

Claim Your The Forge Index Rewards

The Forge has an extensive Index Tab in the menu, from where you can learn a lot about weapons, armor, enemies, ore, and other aspects of the game. However, this isn't all instantly unlocked. Rather, new entries are added to the Index as you discover them (for example, when you beat a new enemy type or when you craft a new weapon for the first time).

The Forge Index isn’t just great for providing essential information about different gameplay elements - it’s also a solid source of money and XP. Every time you discover something new, you can head to the Index and claim free rewards by clicking on the new entry. And trust me, it’s not a tiny amount, especially since it adds up fast. Purchase Better Pickaxe

Having the best available pickaxe at any given point will make mining faster, let you break harder rocks, and increase your chances of getting rare ore. Sell Unneeded Essence

If you’re anything like me, you probably like to hoard everything you get your hands on in video games. The good old “it might come in handy later” school of thought. However, this simply isn’t a viable strategy in The Forge. First of all, your Stash has limited space, and you’ll often hit that limit. Once you do, you won’t be able to mine ore or collect loot from enemies.

So don’t be afraid to sell the stuff you don’t need. This is especially true for essences. They’re, well… essential for enhancing your gear, but you’re not obligated to use all of them. You can sell them when you don’t need them, and they can bring in some decent money. From time to time, do a little Stash cleanup, sell all the extra junk, and watch the gold go ka-ching!

Don’t Sell Ore, Sell What You Forge

While I don’t have the exact math behind it, in most cases, selling raw ore just isn’t as valuable as selling crafted gear. This is true in real life as well as in The Forge; the final product is worth more than the raw materials it’s made from. With that in mind, my advice is simple: it’s almost never worth selling items to Greedy Cey (the NPC who buys ores and miscellaneous items).

Instead, always use your ores to craft equipment, which you can then sell to Marbles, the NPC vendor who buys weapons and armor. In most cases (if you use your ore efficiently during the crafting process), you’ll earn significantly more from the gear than the amount of ore you invested into making it.

Don’t Waste Time on Low-Yielding Rocks

Basic low-HP, low-value rocks are a necessity when you start your mining adventures in The Forge, but you’ll quickly outgrow them, and mining them will become nothing more than a colossal waste of time. It’s simply not worth the effort, both in terms of the amount of ore you’ll mine from them and the quality and rarity of the ore you’ll get.

Quick money farming in The Forge is basically synonymous with quick ore farming, as that's the basis of the economy in The Forge. Thus, as soon as you have the right tools, you will want to start working on Basalt Veins and Basalt Cores, as that's where the money lies. This will yield more high-quality ores, which you can use to craft better gear that sells for more money.

Farm High-Tier Enemies

When you feel stuck in your progression and have nothing else to do, farming enemies that are close to your level is a good strategy. Ideally, you want them to be just a bit stronger than you, so you can still beat them comfortably while maximizing the rewards you get from defeating them.

And the reason is simple: every enemy in The Forge drops various Essence types. As I’ve already discussed earlier, selling extra Essence is one of the best ways to earn gold quickly in The Forge. Plus, most of the simpler quests in The Forge will have you beating some enemy type anyway, meaning you'll be completing quests while farming money from Essence - a win-win situation!

The Forge Money Farm Late Game Tip

All the previous tips were for players grinding through the early to mid-game and looking to make steady progress. So here’s what you need to do to earn tens of thousands of gold per hour.

• Drink some Luck potions to boost your luck. The luck bonus doesn't stack, but the time duration does.
• Head to the Volcanic Depths end-game area. To access it, you’ll need to destroy a series of Basalt Vein nodes in the Ashen Passage section of the Cave on Forgotten Kingdom Island.
• It goes without saying, but make sure you’re well geared, because there will be some serious fighting ahead.
• Beat as many Reapers as you can while your Luck bonus is active.
• This will net you a ton of Superior and Epic Essences, which you can sell for a lot of gold.
