Tips to Complete Thanksgiving Challenge Recipes

Now that you know which recipes to look out for and which ingredients to collect, here are some additional tips to help you speedrun through the Thanksgiving Challenge in 99 Nights in the Forest:

  1. Buy Farming Plots in Advance: Crops like Corn and Chili spawn inconsistently in the wild. Having Farming Plots ready lets you grow key ingredients ahead of time, so you’re not relying on RNG during the limited 5-day window.
  2. Play in a Group and Assign Roles: Completing all dishes solo is extremely difficult. Split responsibilities. One player can fish for Swordfish early, another farms vegetables, another hunts turkeys, and someone else collects Morsels, Sweet Potatoes, and Cake ingredients.
  3. Collect All Ingredients in a Shared Storage Area: Place a storage box or designated drop spot near the Crock Pot. Let everyone contribute ingredients there so the cook can quickly assemble dishes without searching the forest repeatedly.
  4. Start Gathering Rare Ingredients on Day 1: Items like Chili, Cake, Pumpkin, and Swordfish take time or luck to obtain. Begin collecting them immediately, even before the board shows the recipe, so no time is wasted.
  5. Prioritize Upgrading Crafting Bench: You cannot craft the Crock Pot until Tier 3. Make upgrading your first objective, even if it means pausing your regular early-game tasks.
  6. Don’t Waste Turkey Legs: They are used in multiple recipes, so early hunting can save time later. Always store your turkey drops instead of eating them.

Your total number of dishes (guests) determines which reward set you earn. Guests arrive on Day 5 to eat the dishes you prepared and leave platters behind that you can open like chests, which are as follows:

  • Bronze Platter - Bandages, Stew, Armor, and more for attracting up to 4 guests.
  • Silver Platter - Laser Gun, Upgraded Axes, Healing Items, Melee Weapons for attracting up to 7 guests.
  • Gold Platter - Tactical Shotgun, Kunai, rare consumables, and premium Weapons for more than 8 guests.

Also note that Feeding 10 guests also unlocks a secret cutscene and the Thanksgiving IV badge in 99 Nights.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How many recipes are in the Thanksgiving Challenge?

There are ten recipes total, but only nine are fully revealed at the start. The final dish is unlocked later during the event timeline.

Does the recipe order change in different lobbies?

No. The Thanksgiving recipe list always follows the same order. This allows players to pre-farm ingredients before the board displays them.

Can the Thanksgiving event be completed solo?

While possible, reaching 8-10 guests solo is extremely difficult because certain ingredients (Swordfish, Chilis, Corn) take time to gather. Playing in a group is strongly recommended.
