The Boreal Pines update has not only added a new limited-time bestiary but also two new rods to the base game in the form of Cryolash and North Pole. How to get the Cryolash Rod in Fisch
As mentioned earlier, the Cryolash Rod is available on the Boreal Pines Island inside a camping hut. After reaching the Boreal Pines Island, turn on your GPS and travel straight to (21470, 186, 4065) to find the hut. This is on a ledge of terrain, at the back of the island. Keep following the GPS, and you will reach your destination without getting lost. Enter the hut to find the Cryolash Rod on the bed. Pay 3,500,000C$, and you will get the rod. Remember, you must be at least Level 500 and complete the entire Boreal Pines Bestiary to secure it.

Though the rod is a bit hard to control, it has excellent Resilience and Luck, making it ideal for finishing those pending Bestiaries that are missing one or two fish. Speaking about the passive, the Cryolash rod can throw Icicles that rapidly improve your progression, which fairly counters the low bar size and control stats.
How to get the North Pole Rod in Fisch
The next biggest highlight rod of the update is the North Pole rod. You can craft this rod inside the Ancient Archives using the following materials.
- x1 Frozen Frostwyrm: You can catch the Frostywyrm during the Frostywyrm Hunt during the night inside the Crystal Fissure at Boreal Pines at (21708, 136, 3942). After securing, go to an appraiser and keep appraising until you receive the Frozen version.
- x2 Essence of Starfrost: Try to fish for the Essence of Starfrost during the Starfrost Moon Event that can be activated using the Starfrost Moon Totem available for 5,000 Bells inside the Igloo at GPS (-7053, -149,-17935) on Northstar Village. The Essence has a 1-in-150 chance to spawn during the event
- x1 Frostbitten Northstar Whale: Use the Maelstrom rod(30% Chance) to catch the Northstar Whale inside the Cryoshock Cellar to get the Frostbitten Mutation.
Once you have all three items, pay 15,000 Bells to get the rod in your inventory.

- Luck: 177%
- Control: 0
- Resilience: 25%

Looking at the stats, you may think that this is quite a grind for a below-par rod. However, it is the passives that make the rod pretty strong. Firstly, it has a 35% chance to get the Permafrost mutation, which gives a x10 multiplier to fish. Along with that, there is a +50% Progress Speed that is extremely useful in catching Exotics or Secrets with a -90% Progress Speed.
