How to Start the Duck Quest in Abyss
The starting point in Abyss is called the Forgotten Dome, and what you'll need to do is go behind David's Tubes stand and jump into the water. From there, the game will take you straight ahead to the rock formation, where you will find a secret door. Knock on it and keep knocking, because you need to be persistent if you want an answer from the NPC. Bob the NPC will tell you that you can only enter the door if you bring 15 ducks. So, duckie hunt it is!
How to Get All Ducks in Abyss - Full Locations List
Some ducks are going to be a piece of cake to collect in Abyss, while others will have you sweating underwater. Some areas can have multiple yellow creatures, so make sure you scout everything carefully!
The Forgotten Dome
The Forgotten Dome area of Abyss has a total of two ducks which you can pick up whenever you are in the spawn area.
Duck location 1
Wandering around the starting point, there will be many objects to investigate. One of them is going to be a dark blue container, and you're going to recognize it because Billy, the NPC who is selling storage upgrades, is leaning against it. To enter the container, you'll have to wiggle a bit because the door is kind of in the way. However, it's very worth it, because a cute yellow duck is waiting for you inside.
Duck location 2
There are vendors all over the Forgotten Dome, offering and selling a variety of items. One of them is the Harpoon vendor. If you walk left past him, you come face-to-face with a quirky group of devs occupying a table. Behind them is a tree, and if you look closely at the branches, a ducky will be peaking right back at you! To collect it, just climb the tree and collect your prize.
Ocean
The Ocean is wide, but there are a few specific areas which you need to check out in order to find the Abyss Ducks. We will point you in the right direction, so don't worry!
Duck location 1
Remember the Diver NPC, the guy with the submarine in charge of giving you delivery quests? Well, in case you're like me and managed to completely not notice the duck behind him for at least five quests, learn from my mistake! There is a hill behind the NPC and a yellow buddy ready to be picked up. This location is not too deep, so you will not need a special tube to reach it.
Duck location 2
When you're done with the Diver NPC, keep on down the the path deeper to the very edge of the map. Once you reach it, turn around and keep submerging until you notice a cave entrance. Morveth's cave entrance also has a gun quest (for one of the best mid-to-late game guns in the game), meaning you can hit two birds with one stone.
Speaking of stones, you need to jump over some to reach a small waterfall on the right. Climb the steps to the top, open the treasure chest, and collect the duck hidden behind it.
Duck location 3
I have great news! There is another duck located at Morveth's cave in Abyss, and you don't need to go far to get it. Between the pond and the entrance with flowing water, there is a wall you can climb. Jump all the way to the top, grab the duckie, and open the treasure chest. A huge heads up for this location is that you need a lot of Oxygen, so make sure you're geared up with the Boat Tube. You can get this item from Marcus NPC, who is located in Ancient Sands.
Duck location 4
The next duck location in Abyss is literally at the beginning of the Duck quest. Once you've accepted it from the NPC with a fiery attitude, go to the top of that same rock formation. Apart from the duck that you need to complete the quest, there is also a treasure chest. Don't forget that you get a badge when you open a certain number of them! Plus, everyone loves freebies.
Ancient Sands
Ancient Sands is the second biome of Abyss where you will head to after the Forgotten Deep area. You do need some better Tubes here, so be prepared when exploring!
Duck location 1
One of the ducks is playing hide and seek behind a pillar in "Crazy Jeff's Store". Keep in mind that this location is 240m deep, so you definitely need some extra oxygen for the journey by having one of the following:
- Boat Tube - you can purchase it from NPC Marcus, and he is located in Ancient Sands as well
- Oxygen Pods - if you have a stash of the pods, you can keep using them and refilling your oxygen until you reach the store. Jeff's Shop is a cave, so your Oxygen levels will restore when you enter it.
Duck location 2
By exploring Ancient Sands deeper past "Crazy Jeff's Store," you reach a tower to the left of the path. At the top of the tower is NPC Grumpy Hank chilling on a couch, and between him and some crates is a duck. Keep in mind that you need a Boat Tube here as well since the depth is 240m. Also, your oxygen levels won't restore to full in this area, but you won't be losing any either. My suggestion is that you take a breather at Crazy Jeff's until your bar is back to max, and then keep going to the tower.
Spirit Roots
The third location which you will explore in Abyss is Spirit Roots, and it also contains a number of ducks which you can grab for your collection.
Duck location 1
This duck location in Abyss has an eerie vibe. Two entrances are in front of you: a fancy-looking door on the right and a cave on the left. If you're looking for a duck, sadly, you have to pick the cave as your destination. While swimming through the cave, you will reach a branching path. Make a left and keep going until you reach the Golem entrance (on the left). The duck is nesting on the ledge next to it. Also, keep in mind that this entire passage does not affect your oxygen levels, meaning that you will leave with the same amount you entered with.
Exit the dome behind David's Tube stand and go to the tall rock formation. There is a secret door that you have to keep knocking on until the Duck NPC responds. He will give you the duck quest.
You need a total of 15 ducks to complete the quest.
Multiple ducks can be at the same location. An example is Morveth's cave, where you can collect 2 ducks.
