There are monster dens on the map, you can see when roaming the land, and you may even encounter the golden rare dens. Sometimes, you want a particular monster to add to your crew instead of the random chance it's in the next egg you find.

MHS2 has mechanics in place where you can force a monster to retreat. Though this depends on many variables and is not guaranteed to work. This will create a monster den of that monster that you can enter and steal an egg from. Raising the chances significantly of you obtaining an egg of that species.

Though if you use these methods with a skill called Nesting, either on your Talisman or Armor, it will increase the retreat likelihood even more.

Here are are all of the ways to increase the chances of making all hatchable monsters retreat. To find a specific monster, Ctrl + F and type in the monster's name.

This guide is a work in progress.
