Kartrider Drift was first announced in 2020 and has chugged along through the development process ever since. Developer Nexon has held two closed betas for the free-to-play kart racer, and in Sony's PlayStation State of Play on October 27, they have announced another beta and a release window for Kartrider Drift.
Kartrider Drift has been given a release window of 2022 for PlayStation. Nexon hasn't clarified any particular quarter or half that it will release in, but fans finally know when it is coming. The kart racing game offers players freedom of creativity in all aspects. It will also have regular content updates and seasonal updates throughout its lifespan.
Kartrider Drift will release for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, and the developers have stated there will be cross-play between Xbox and PC. Whether this will extend to PlayStation is unknown, but friends on Xbox and PC will be able to play together on separate platforms.
Kartrider Drift will likely evoke images and memories of the Mario Kart series and other kart racing games. Similar to these games, it features wacky tracks, high-speed racing, and items players can use to sabotage one another and take the lead.
