How to use Eva’s Holiday Oven 2.1 in Destiny 2 Dawning 2021

The Dawning, Destiny 2's special holiday event went live on Tuesday, Dec. 14, and many players are logging in to celebrate the season, bake some delicious treats, and gain some unique gear along the way.

One crucial aspect of the seasonal event is the baking mechanic. One of the main goals of Dawning is to bake different types of treats for other characters. This is done by collecting ingredients and combining them to make a specific treat in the holiday oven. If you have never done it before, here is how it's done.

The Oven

When you first get the oven from Eva Levante, it will appear in your quest menu until the event ends in January. Hover over the oven, and open the details of it. Here you will see two sections of the oven menu: Recipes and Ingredients.

Ingredients are collectible materials that you will be able to gather throughout the event. Players will pick up the uncommon ingredients from different enemy types. Each type of enemy will drop a different type of ingredient needed for a recipe. For example, Fallen enemies will drop what is called Ether Cane. 

You will also need a specific kind of rare ingredient. These are obtained by defeating enemies in specific ways, like using rocket launchers or grenade launchers to defeat enemies. Different rare ingredients will require different methods of obtaining them.

Finally, you will need what's called Essence of Dawning to complete a recipe. This can easily be obtained by doing any activity in the game. At the end of the activity, you will be rewarded with it. All of these materials are event exclusive and will only drop during the Dawning.

Recipes

Originally, this was the most challenging part of the baking mechanic during the Dawning events of the past. To discover more, you had to go through trial and error by combining different uncommon and rare ingredients until you got it right. If you combine ingredients that didn't work together, the end product will come out burnt.

Luckily, Bungie has changed it a bit. Now, whenever you get a new uncommon or rare ingredient, the recipe that the ingredient is featured in will become discovered.

This newly discovered recipe will appear in the recipe section of the oven menu, allowing you to make it repeatedly. 

Also, collecting ingredients isn't hard. Just by playing your favorite game modes, you will collect more.
