Is the RE-45 about to become the strongest weapon in the Apex Legends? Are Hop-Ups expanding to broader ranges of weapons? Is the entire meta structure of Apex Legends being flipped upside down? The news broke in an Apex Legends press panel that the Hammerpoint Rounds was returning to the loot pool for Season 12: Defiance, only with one little difference. In addition to being compatible with the P2020 and the Mozambique, it will also be compatible with the RE-45.
So, it is compatible with one more weapon. What’s the big deal, right? Well, here’s the big deal. First of all, the Hammerpoint being compatible with the RE-45, without either of the other weapons losing their compatibility, makes the Hammerpoint Apex Legends’ first Hop-Up that is compatible with three weapons at once.

Second of all, Hop-Ups are usually compatible with weapons of similar ilks. The Hammerpoint Rounds, which add a damage multiplier against unshielded/broken targets, were previously compatible with single fire weapons. The RE-45 is an auto-fire gun with a high rate of fire. With the Hop-Up equipped, it is going to absolutely melt vulnerable targets.
This is going to change the meta in that being at close range with someone unshielded mid-game onward is a risk because you never know who will have this deadly combo on hand. The Hammerpoint Rounds will be compatible with the RE-45 from Feb. 8 onward.
