Sifu – Tips and Tricks for Combat

Become the master.

It's not easy to master Sifu, and the tutorial doesn't do much to explain it. Luckily, we've been practicing our combat skills until we are almost Batman-like. Here are the best tips for combat in Sifu:

Do not button mash

Avoid button mashing when fighting enemies. Even though the combat may seem easy, pressing buttons aimlessly is one of the best ways to get knocked out. It is better to press one button at a time, as you don't want to be attacking when someone is about to punch you. Make sure you keep an eye out as you press each button so you can parry when you need to.

Once you get comfortable with the rhythm, you'll gradually speed up. It's okay if you're a little slow at first because it's good practice for parrying. Sifu makes sure to emphasize how to parry high and low when speaking of parrying. As we have experienced, blocking high doesn't always work as well as it should. In most situations, a regular well-timed block is sufficient.

The easiest way to beat bosses and mini-bosses

When you encounter enemies with a yellow aura, you need to be careful. They are essentially mini-bosses that are very hard to beat in a fight. If you pay attention to your surroundings, you can easily beat them.

You can vault over many things in Sifu, so keep vaulting back and forth and aim at your enemy. When they stumble, they are vulnerable to attacks. Strike three times and repeat the process.

The same method will work with regular bosses. You just have to keep close, vaultable objects during the fight.

The two most important skills to any playthrough

You should unlock Weapon Catch and Environmental Mastery as soon as you can. Both can be used regularly during combat. The enemy throws weapons at you often, so you have to take the hit unless you have unlocked Weapon Catch.

It is easy to unbalance the regular and sumo-type opponents with Environmental Mastery. Don't bother sending these to an enemy with a yellow aura, as they'll avoid it.

Use weapons

Use weapons whenever you can, even on one-on-one opponents. Although it may seem unfair, you are very weak compared to your enemies, particularly a group.

If necessary, dodging around each room to find more weapons is best. Your hands should only be used as a last resort. This is the best way to earn a high combo multiplier without dying.
