Can Tapu Koko be shiny in Pokémon GO?

Can this legendary Pokémon be shiny?

Shiny Pokémon are highly sought-after in Pokémon GO, so when Pokémon are featured as Raid bosses, players naturally want to know whether their elusive shiny forms will be available. Tapu Koko is returning to Five-Star Raids during the Crackling Voltage Event happening at the end of January. When the legendary Pokémon first appeared in the game, its shiny form was unavailable. This time around, its shiny form can be encountered after a successful battle.

Shiny Tapu Koko swaps its orange wing color for a midnight shade of black. This color variation is pretty drastic compared to many other Pokémon featured during the event, so players will likely be out in full force battling the legendary in Raids. Players will only be able to get a shiny Tapu Koko by successfully defeating it in a Raid battle.

The Pokémon will be hard enough to defeat in a Raid, but even after a successful battle, players only have a small chance to encounter the shiny form. If players are trying to grind out Raids to get their hands on this shiny guardian legendary, they should be sure to team up with other trainers to increase their chances of success. Players still struggling to defeat the Five-Star Raid can use this Tapu Koko Raid Guide to better strategize before they go in.
