Apex Legends Firing Range: How to make dummies move & attack

Not professionals, but you can make them shoot.

While some Apex Legends players practice their aim in apps like "Aim Trainer," others like to warm up in the game's Firing Range. It is essentially a skill training mode where you can test out all the weapons, characters, and movement techniques.

To check out the weapons, you can shoot at targets and dummies. Initially, the dummies are stationary. However, you can follow the steps below to make dummies move and attack:

  • After starting the Firing Range in Apex Legends, leave the spawn cave and head to the final cave to your left.
  • Inside the cave, reach the metal bar on top. You can do this by using specific legends and their abilities, such as Horizon's gravity lift or Pathfinder's grapple.
  • Once in the center of the metal ledge, press crouch and look directly down. Make sure you don't have any weapons or ammo equipped while doing this.
  • Open up the character selection screen and change your legend. You should now have successfully activated the bots' movement and attack features.

While stationary and moving targets are great for aiming practice, dummies closely represent an actual enemy player, as they are equipped with shields, health, and have a similar hitbox. This makes active dummies an even better target to practice on for in-game combat situations. But don't expect them to be cracked at the game, as they are A.I., after all.
