How to get Ascendant Shards in Destiny 2

Use this resource wisely, Guardian!

Ascendant Shards are one of the rarest crafting resources in Destiny 2. You will need these items to masterwork weapons and armor in the game. Not only that, you will also require Ascendant Shards if you want to acquire an exotic weapon from the Exotic Kiosk at the Tower. That said, there are a few ways in which you can get your hands on these Ascendant Shards.

Tower Vendors

Master Rahool and Ada-1 sell Ascendant Shards at the Tower in Destiny 2. To purchase an Ascendant Shard from them, you will have to exchange it for the following items:

  • 10 Enhancement Prisms
  • 100 Planetary Materials (rotating every day)
  • 50,000 Glimmer

Playlist Vendors

Playlist vendors, like Commander Zavala, Lord Shaxx and The Drifter, offer Ascendant Shards as rank-up rewards. You will have to reach Rank 16 with each of these vendors to be able to claim one Ascendant Shard from them.

Master and Grandmaster Nightfalls

Master and Grandmaster Nightfalls in Destiny 2 offer Ascendant Shards as rewards for platinum completions. On Master difficulty, the Ascendant Shards have a drop rate of around 33%. However, you can get at least one Ascendant Shard for every platinum completion on Grandmaster difficulty.

Season Pass

You will be able to earn these Ascendant Shards from the Season Pass as well. These shards are available at Level 85, 90, and 94. However, you will be able to claim these items once per account.

Now that you know how to get these Ascendant Shards, spend them wisely because they're very rare. Masterwork weapons and armor with this only if you're sure of its utility. Good luck, Guardian.
