Pokemon Sword and Shield: How-to Evolve Milcery into Alcremie

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

We're taking a look at how-to evolve Milcery into Alcremie in Pokemon Sword and Shield! This is a pretty interesting Pokemon because it has quite a few different varieties that have different looks to them! We'll tell you where you need to go to catch Milcery, and what you'll need to do to evolve it! We've also got information on how-to get the Rainbow Swirl version.

Where-to Catch Milcery

Milcery can be caught on Route 4. You'll want to fast travel to Turffield. Go straight from the Pokemon Center and you'll find some golden grass areas.

You will likely see them running around through the grasses in the Overworld. Run into one of these and then get them into a Poke Ball!

How-to Evolve Milcery into Alcremie

Now that we have our Milcery, we will need to fast travel over to Hammerlocke to collect one of the ingredients you will need to evolve the Pokemon. Make your way to the right and then up the large staircase. You will see a Poke Ball on the ground, grab it to obtain the Strawberry Sweet item. You can also go to the Battle Cafe in Hamerlocke to get more of these. You can battle the man behind the counter once per day. If you are able to defeat them, you will be rewarded with one of the Sweet items. As far as we know right now, there's seven total sweets: Berry Sweet, Clover Sweet, Flower Sweet, Love Sweet, Ribbon Sweet, Star Sweet, and Strawberry Sweet. The Sweet that your Milcery holds will determine what decoration will be in Alcremie's hair!

Now that you have a Sweet, you will need to do a certain type of spin to get a particular style of Alcremie. The stats and what not are all the same, the difference is the color of the evolution! To spin, you will wheel around your left joystick so your character starts to spin. There's four different types of spins: clockwise short, counterclockwise short, clockwise long, and counterclockwise long! You will also want to take a look at whether it's day or night in game, because that is also a deciding factor of what colors you get!

Here's a list of the spins you can do that will get you which particular Alcremie. Clockwise means you spin the joystick to the right, and counterclockwise means you spin it to the left. I'd recommend saving prior to doing this so you can restart the game if you aren't happy with the result.

Day (in Game Time)

  • Vanilla Cream: Clockwise Spin Short
  • Ruby Cream: Counterclockwise Spin Short
  • Caramel Swirl: Clockwise Spin long (Over 5 Seconds)
  • Ruby Swirl: Counterclockwise Spin Long (Over 5 Seconds)

Night (in Game Time)

  • Matcha Cream: Clockwise Spin Short
  • Salted Cream: Counterclockwise Spin Short
  • Lemon Cream: Clockwise Spin Long (Over 5 Seconds)
  • Mint Cream: Counterclockwise Spin Long (Over 5 Seconds)

Rainbow Swirl Alcremie

There is a ninth form that can be obtained called the Rainbow Swirl Alcremie! A method has been found where you can obtain this version of the Pokemon consistently. Set the time on your Nintendo Switch to 7:00 PM. You can do this in System Settings > System > Date and Time. Make sure to uncheck Synchronize Clock Via Internet.

Once you've done that, fly to the Wild Area with your Milcery. Give it one of the sweets and then spin counterclockwise for 20 seconds (exact amount of time isn't known). If you did everything correctly, you should then receive the Rainbow Swirl Alcremie!

Here's a look at how each of the evolutions will look so you can decide which one is the best for you!
