Adopt Me Fossil Eggs (Dino Eggs) – Release Date & Details!

Check out these adorably terrifying pets!

Originally announced in June 2020 via a tweet posted by the official Adopt Me Twitter account, Fossil Eggs arrived a few months later in Oct. 2020 during the experience's Fossil Isle Excavation event that took place from Oct. 2, 2020, to Nov. 11, 2020. During this event, players could excavate fossils from a dig site, analyze them, and use them to discover what types of animals would be inside the mysterious Fossil Egg at the time. Once a player discovered all of the Fossil Egg animals, any future excavated fossils could be redeemed for toys.

After the Fossil Isle Excavation event ended, the Fossil Egg was added to the Gumball Machine in the Nursery, replacing the Aussie Egg. On April 16, 2021, the Fossil Egg was removed from the Gumball Machine and replaced with the Ocean Egg. The Fossil Egg can no longer be purchased in Adopt Me and can only be obtained through trading.

As can be seem from the images above, this egg offers quite a few interesting and unique pets to unlock! For those unfamiliar with dinosaurs, or any of the other animals that were around during the Jurassic Period, check out the fun facts below!

  • Deinonychus is much closer in size to the Velociraptors you see in the Jurassic Park movies.
  • The actual size of the Velociraptor that existed in the past is much smaller than in the movies, and the name was only used because it sounds better. You'll also notice the feathers on it, which is much more accurate to what we know about dinosaurs now.
  • Dilophosaurus is another well-known from Jurassic Park, but its ability to spit and expand its neck frill is fictional, and no proof of that exists in reality.
  • The Tasmanian Tiger is not really a cat at all but much more comparable to a wolf or a dog. Unlike what most people think, these animals did not go extinct in pre-historic days, with the last one in captivity dying in 1936 and sightings of them reportedly lasting all the way into the 1990s.

Fossil Egg Details

The Fossil Egg is green, brown, and tan in color and features various scuffs and dirt smudges around its bottom to indicate that it had been excavated. The back of the egg has a green and yellow dinosaur-esque tail and various brown scales. The video below posted by the official Adopt Me Twitter account showcases this adorable egg in its idle state.

For an even closer look at the details of this event, check out the video from Adopt Me News below.

As mentioned in the first graph of this article, Fossil Isle was a limited-time event island that players could travel to by helicopter and explore as an archaeologist! Once on the isle, players could dig up fossils, speak with unique NPCs, discover new life, and more! Though this island is no longer available inside of Adopt Me, it's still cool to look back on! And who knows, maybe it will come back someday in the future!
