Since the world of Paldea is wide open, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet players will have an easier time doing Monotype runs than ever before. An Electric Monotype run is worth considering since Electric Pokémon hit hard, and they only really have to worry about Ground-types dealing damage back.
Which Electric-types are best to use in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?
- Luxray
- Toxtricity
- Killowatrel
- Pawmot
- Ampharos
- Bellibolt
There are a couple of strong Electric Pokémon to build around in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, but among the best to start with is Luxray. Traditionally, this Pokémon has always been held back by its mediocre Speed stat. In Generation IX, though, it gets access to Trailblaze to raise its Speed. Luxray definitely wants to run Trailblaze so that it can counter Ground-types anyways.
Luxray can be paired with Toxtricity to form a potent combo. Toxtricity is part Poison-type, so it can hit Grass for super effective. If Toxtricity has the Punk Rock ability, its Boomburst also does loads of damage.
Right now, the team gets destroyed by fast Earthquake users, so it's best to add a Flying-type. Killowatrel turns out not only to be part Flying but also has an incredible Speed stat. It sadly needs to rely on Hurricane to hit for damage, but opponents are in for a rough time if it hits.
Pawmot is the next Pokémon that makes sense on this team since it's a decent Dragon-type counter. Pawmot learns Play Rough and Ice Punch, which also hits Ground and Grass hard. Any Monotype run of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet should have a Dragon counter since one of the Elite Four uses Dragons.
Ampharos can serve as extra insurance against Dragons since it has Dazzling Gleam. On top of that, Ampharos can stack Cotton Guard to get a huge Defense stat. This might allow it to turn the tides against Physical Attackers like Iron Treads, Dugtrio, or even Quagsire.
Finally, there's one Electric Pokémon that's simply too good to pass up. Bellibolt can solo some Gyms due to the Electromorphosis ability. Bellibolt is slow enough to take damage on most turns, and if the opponent doesn't resist Electric they usually go down to a Thunderbolt.
