All Ground Type Pokémon Weaknesses and Counters

Ground is one of the best offensive Types in Pokémon, capable of dealing super effective damage to five different Types. Defensively, Ground Type Pokémon also gain a Special Defense buff from Sandstorm and are immune to its damage over time effect. They have three weaknesses and two resistances, making them a reasonably balanced Type in the game. What is Ground weak to in Pokémon?

Ground Pokémon are typically strong on the Physical side, boasting a high Defense stat. Not all Ground Type Pokémon are bulky, but it is still wise to hit them for super effective damage. They are weak to:

  • Water - 2x
  • Grass - 2x
  • Ice - 2x

What are Ground Type Pokémon immune to in Pokémon?

Ground Type Pokémon are immune to Electric moves, including Status moves like Thunder Wave. The best Ground Type Pokémon can use this to their advantage to switch into Electric attacks without having to take damage.

What is Ground strong against in Pokémon?

Ground is one of, if not the best, offensive Types in Pokémon and deals super-effective damage to five other Types. There are also very few Pokémon that resist Ground moves, making them hard to switch into. They are strong against:

  • Electric - 2x
  • Fire - 2x
  • Steel - 2x
  • Poison - 2x
  • Rock - 2x

Defensively, it takes reduced damage from:

  • Poison - 1/2
  • Rock - 1/2

What are the best counters to Ground Types in Pokémon?

When fighting Ground Type Pokémon, it can be dangerous switching into them. In cases like these, it is best to have a Pokémon that will take less damage from a Ground Type move. These Types will resist that annoying Earthquake from opponents:

  • Bug - 1/2
  • Grass - 1/2

Flying Type Pokémon are immune to Ground moves and the best counter to Ground Pokémon. Many Ground Pokémon can learn Rock moves as well to counter Flying Types, but it will deal less damage since they have to rely on moves that aren't STAB.
