What is Siphon in Fortnite?

This is the only way to have Siphon again!

Developer Epic Games chose to completely remove Siphon from Fortnite with the launch of Ranked Play, but you may still be wondering what it is exactly. Read on to find out!

How does Siphon work in Fortnite?

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Siphon was first introduced in the Arena Mode long ago. After you defeated your opponent, you were given 50 Health or Shields as well as 50 of each material, providing enough health for another battle (a huge advantage after a win).

Siphon was available in the original Battle Royale and is still available, but you need the Rarity Check or the Shotgun Striker Augment. The Rarity Check augment will grant you siphon after you defeat enemies using common or uncommon weapons, while the Shotgun Striker will grant you siphon when you hit a player with your shotgun. For Siphon alone, I would not personally carry grey or green weapons.

Why was Siphon removed in Fortnite?

Because Epic Games wants to alter the competitive playstyle of the game, Siphon has been removed with the addition of Ranked Play. This isn't a bad idea, but you'll have to fight more carefully and restrain yourself from pushing everyone you come across. Since players aren't being eliminated as quickly and the match takes longer to complete, practicing in-game is now a better choice than before. Players will become better as a result of having to consider their actions before attacking and choosing the best time to do so.
