How to get Suicune (Walking Wake) and Virizion (Iron Leaves) in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

A pair of new Paradox Pokémon have entered the fray in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Scarlet players will be able to catch Walking Wake, a prehistoric form of Suicune, and Violet players will get to catch Iron Leaves, a futuristic form of Virizion. Both of these Pokémon have some revamped capabilities that make them easily worth catching. Here's how.

How can players catch the new Paradox forms in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

Walking Wake and Iron Leaves will both be Tera Raid bosses in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet respectively. They both look to be very powerful, so trainers are going to want to plan ahead before trying to catch them.

Best counters to Walking Wake

Walking Wake is certainly a threat, being the only Water-type with a move that isn't hindered by Sun. Although it is Tera Type Water, Walking Wake will be able to shred opposing Grass-types before they can fire back. This makes the best answers to Walking Wake strong Electric-types that can deal damage in a hurry.

Playing a slow game against Walking Wake can be a recipe for disaster since it can use Noble Roar to raise its stats. Examples of good counters would be Choice Specs Magnezone, Bellibolt, or a leveled-up Luxray.

Best counters to Iron Leaves

While Iron Leaves certainly is strong, bringing up its own Electric Terrain can hurt it just as much as help it. Electric Terrain allows other Quark Drive Pokémon to set up, specifically Iron Jugulis, who can hit the Tera Psychic Iron Leaves for Super Effective damage.

In general, though, Dark Pokémon aren't too strong in this matchup since Iron Leaves carries Megahorn. Chi Yu is the exception to this since it's Dark-type and Fire-type. Other than that, trainers might want to consider using Steel-types, who resist every attack Iron Leaves can use (Leaf Blade, Psyblade, and Megahorn). This allows threats like Gholdengo or Iron Treads to set up and blast through Iron Leaves.
