Hikari has the perfect set up for being a damage carry in Octopath Traveler 2. His Attack stat is sky-high, he gets access to special Learned Skills, and he gets a support skill that lets him surpass damage cap. Giving Hikari an optimal secondary job and a good build will only maximize his offensive capabilities.
How should players build Hikari in Octopath Traveler 2?
Arguably the best secondary class for Hikari in Octopath Traveler 2 is the Armsmaster class. Since Hikari has the best offensive stats, it makes sense to give him the best weapons available. The Armsmaster class uses all of the Divine Weapons, so with it Hikari becomes a damage dealing beast.
Ideally, Hikari's Support Skills would look like this:
- Summon Strength
- Deal More Damage
- Peak Performance
- Arms Refinement
Once late game comes around, Hikari will be able to use attacks that exceed the damage cap. This makes Deal More Damage necessary to exceed that damage cap, as well as Summon Strength to keep his Attack stat as high as possible. The other two Support Skills, Peak Performance and Arms Refinement, come from the Armsmaster class.
Peak Performance raises damage when the character is at full health. Arms Refinement fills the Latent Power gauge when hitting an enemy's weak point. This means that Hikari can use his Latent Power early in a fight and then refill it for free by exploiting a weak point.
The other thing that makes Armsmaster Hikari so deadly is that it gives him the best coverage. Of course, Armsmaster isn't available until late game, so it's a good idea to give Hikari Hunter access until then. Hunter gives Hikari Swords, Polearms, Axes, and Bows, which is plenty to break most enemies in the game.
