The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom uses the Great Sky Island as its tutorial area, and it functions similarly to the Great Plateau in Breath of the Wild. I loved exploring this area but ran into a few issues getting stuck, especially when it came time to descend to Hyrule. However, not to worry if you've also gotten stuck; there are plenty of ways to get unstuck on Great Sky Island in TotK.
How to fix getting Stuck on Great Sky Island in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)
If you find yourself stuck or trapped anywhere on Great Sky Island, you have a few options to get yourself free. There are two solutions early on: jumping into bodies of water or reloading your save. The first solution isn't the most elegant, but it can get you unstuck, let you find an alternate route, and negates fall damage. There are plenty of small ponds, rivers, and lakes to dive into.
The option requires you to reload your save. This is less ideal, as you will lose your progress. I recommend saving often, especially before you get all of Link's abilities on Great Sky Island. These are the primary ways to get unstuck, but more options open up after you progress in the story.

Once you receive the Paraglider and complete The Closed Doors quest, you can access gliding and fast travel. If you get stuck, you can open the menu and fast-travel to a Shrine on Great Sky Island. This lets you freely explore the island without worrying about getting trapped.
What to do if I'm Stuck on Great Sky Island in Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)
As mentioned above, the easiest way to get unstuck is to jump into a body of water before completing The Closed Doors quest or fast-travel to a Shrine once you unlock fast-travel. One difficult place for me was jumping off the Temple of Time and descending to Hyrule.
After reaching the end of the Temple of Time, look down. Jump and aim for one of the ponds below. Press the R button to send Link into a freefall. You can maneuver Link to land in one of the ponds and can hold R to dive faster. Link's air mobility isn't the best early on, but you can get an armor set to increase his air movement.
