When does Diablo 4 Season 1 start?

Demon hunting season is upon us!

Diablo 4 is the latest iteration of Blizzard's famed franchise, succeeding Diablo 3 after incredible 11 years of waiting. The last Diablo game was an outstanding success, threading well into 29 seasons, which makes it a grizzled veteran, with Blizzard keeping it alive by constantly pumping in fresh content. I am glad to see the trend go on with the newest franchise iteration, with Diablo 4 featuring the Battle Pass system to start with the much-anticipated Season 1. Here's everything we know so far.

The Diablo 4 Seasons will be launched quarterly, meaning you can enjoy the first Season until late October. As a prerequisite for experiencing seasonal content, all players must complete the main storyline campaign, either with a seasonal or non-seasonal character.

Diablo 4 Season 1 Battle Pass explained

One of the main perks of Season 1 in Diablo 4 will be access to Battle Pass. This new feature will have two unlocking paths, awarding free and premium content, respectively. So far, we know that it will feature the following number of tiers you will be able to unlock:

  • 27 Free Tiers
  • 63 Premium Tiers

Depending on which Diablo 4 edition you have purchased, you may get the Battle Pass for free if you upgraded from the basic edition of the game. For those that purchased Digital Deluxe Edition, Seasonal Battle Pass will become free as soon as the release drops. And those who are absolutely stoked by the Diablo franchise, like me, and have made the Ultimate purchase, will be able to skip unlocking the first 21 Battle Pass Tiers, with content becoming available to them as soon as it releases.

Diablo 4 Season 1 Battle Pass awards

We know that Diablo 4 Battle Pass tier completion will award players with cosmetic items, allowing them to customize in-game characters to their liking further. Seasonal boosts will also be available, enabling players to progress quicker through Battle Pass tiers and unlock items faster. Premium currency is also rumored to be included, offering us to purchase cosmetic items from the in-game store.
