Path of the Goddess – Release date, gameplay, game pass, & more!

A new tale of the Kami is coming.

Fresh on the heels of Streetfighter 6, Capcom has announced its next fighting action-adventure game, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. The game was announced at Capcom's Xbox Showcase 2023; the footage gave an initial glimpse of the fast-paced action, creepy but cartoony horror aesthetic, and overall mystical Japanese flavor would-be fans can look forward to from this new IP.

What is the release date for Path of the Goddess?

We don't yet know the release date for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, but the first gameplay/ trailer was shown on June 11, 2023, so it will either be a Winter 2023 or early 2024 release, if I had to guess. We'll update this page as soon as we know, so bookmark us and check back soon for more details.

It's hard to glean too much from the official showcase trailer (below), but there's clearly an eerie, evil threat that players will be attempting to tackle. Gameplay is focused on fast, action-based third-person combat, while the style looks rich in Japanese folklore and the spirit realm. What we do know is the gameplay looks smooth, and the visuals are stunning. As the official Xbox Game Pass Twitter account said, "A new tale of the Kami is coming," with Kami roughly translating to supernatural beings in English.   

Will Path of the Goddess be coming to Xbox Game Pass?

The good news for Xbox fans is that Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess will be coming to Game Pass from day one of release, which is a bit of a surprise. We can only presume that, as the game is launching a new IP, Capcom wants to give it maximum exposure right off the bat.

What platforms will Path of the Goddess be on?

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess will be available on the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass at launch. Additionally, it will release on PlayStation 5 and PC. This gives players plenty of options to play the game on their platform of choice.
