Where to find the Gerduo Great Skeleton in TOTK – Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

There are too many sand storms in the Gerudo Desert.

The leviathan skeletons have made a comeback in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. While they're basically in the same spots as they were in Breath of the Wild, they each have an additional side quest associated with them. Arguably the hardest to find is the one in the Gerudo Desert, but there's a trick to finding it quickly.

Location of the Gerudo Great Skeleton in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)

The Gerudo Great Skeleton in Tears of the Kingdom is found in a cave placed in the southwestern corner of the Gerudo Desert. Its exact coordinates are -4810, -3876, 0002. If completing Loone's side quest, she will actually place a beacon on the Gerudo Skeleton for Link to follow, but Link first would need to find the Eldin and Hebra Skeletons.

How to get to the Gerudo Great Skeleton in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)

Even if players know where to go, it's tough getting to the Gerudo Great Skeleton since there is a sand storm blocking the way. Of course, if they want, players could just try to go through the sand storm, but there is a much easier way to find the cave.

I took a detour through The Depths to get to the Gerudo Great Skeleton, and I found it very easy to get there. This is because right by the Gerudo Great Skeleton is a huge pillar that Link can ascend through from The Depths.

To find the pillar, I warped to Kasari Lightroot, which is right next to the Desert Coliseum (coordinates -4158, -3825, -0478). From there, I brought out a plane with Autobuild and flew into the very southeastern corner of The Depths. I then found the pillar at coordinates -4774, -3894, -0460.

When I popped out at the end, I was right in front of the cave with the Gerudo Great Skeleton inside.

How to complete the Gerudo's Colossal Fossil quest in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)

Many players are likely trying to find the Gerudo Great Skeleton to wrap up Loone's quest to find and fix up all of the Leviathan Skeletons. It's important to note that players do need to do these in order, so the Eldin and Hebra Skeletons need to be completed before doing the Gerudo Colossal Fossil quest.

Once inside the cave, right beside Loone is the skeleton head of an infant leviathan. Loone tells Link that she would love to see the full skeleton, which means Link has to find the tail and the body. The tail is actually the easier one to find: just use the fan in the middle of the room to blow away the sand dunes that are next to the pool with the fairies.

As for the body of the little leviathan, players need to get on top of the head of the big Leviathan. On the roof will be some bones exposed through lots of rubble, and players should be able to see it well from atop the Leviathan's head.

From there, just shoot Bomb Arrows to clear the rubble (there are several bomb flowers in the cave already) and grab the bones with Ultrahand. Afterwards, assemble the little Leviathan with the tail attached to the body behind the head.

If done correctly, Loone should have a red exclamation point on top of her head; that means the quest is done!
