If you want to have multiple weapons to go between without running to your inventory every time in Starfield, you're in luck; there's a simple and easy shortcut for switching out your guns and other weapons that requires minimal setup.

How to use quickslots in Starfield

  • Go into your menu and then your Inventory in the bottom right.
  • From there, navigate to your weapons.
  • Any weapon you wish to be able to swap in and out of, choose as your favorite (detailed on the bottom right of the weapon's screen).
  • Once you choose to favorite the weapon, choose which quickslot it will belong in.
  • Any time you want to use that weapon, hit the corresponding direction on the directional pad (Q key on the keyboard) to equip it.

Can you buy weapons and ammo in Starfield?

Once you've gotten past the initial missions and begin to have more freedom with travel, you can more easily acquire large amounts of ammo and weaponry from vendors in towns or settlements. (New Atlantis will be a very popular place to shop for these items.) Like other vendor essentials, ammo and weapons will cost you Credits.
