How to save a custom weapon blueprint in MW3

Save your weapon build!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has custom weapon blueprints that come with themed skins as part of cosmetic bundles. The game also allows you to create and save your own custom weapon blueprints.

While it's good to have pre-built weapon blueprints, these variants don't always have the best attachments equipped if you ask me. Thankfully, you can create and save your own custom weapon build in the MW3 Gunsmith.

How to save a custom mod in Modern Warfare 3

To save a custom weapon mod or blueprint in MW3, follow the steps I've listed below:

  • Go to the Weapons menu and click on the Multiplayer Loadout option at the bottom.
  • Click on the Custom Loadout of your choice to edit it.
  • Select Edit under your primary or secondary weapon to bring up the weapons list and select the gun you want to save the custom blueprint for.
  • Once your desired weapon is selected, click on Gunsmith to open up the customization screen.
  • Equip whatever attachments and click on the Save A Custom Mod tab in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen (see first image).
  • Give a suitable name to your custom mod and select Save Weapon (second image).

This will add the custom weapon blueprint you've just created to the Armory (see image above), after which you can add it to your loadout with just a few clicks. This feature is essential in a modern Call of Duty as it eliminates the tedious process of selecting the meta attachments every time you use a weapon you've already built previously. I also suggest throwing on a cool camo and weapon charm before saving a custom weapon blueprint.
