Best Idira Characteristics in Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader

To properly play Idira in Rogue Trader, here are the most important characteristics to pick when leveling her:

  • Perception: Affects Awareness, enabling Idira to dodge enemy attacks more effectively. This Characteristic makes her less prone to taking wounds inflicted by traps as well.
  • Intelligence: Alongside boosting Idira's Tech-Use skill, it provides her with additional Lore (Xenos) points, making her better at combating threats.
  • Willpower: Crucial for resisting the negative mental effects of using psychic powers and combating the perils of the warp.

Best Idira Abilities in Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader

Here are the best Abilities to take on Idira while leveling her in Rogue Trader:

  • Analyze Enemies: Combined with Expose weakness, you get a debuff on your enemies, hurting them more.
  • Expose Weakness: Idira removes all exploits for the target to decrease the target's dodge, armor, and parry until the start of her next turn.
  • Sensory Deprivation: Gives Idira a powerful debuff, making enemies hit less often. It is very useful, especially when fighting multiple stronger units.
  • Prescience: Serves to buff allies with additional Intelligence, Perception, Fellowship, and Willpower. Very good for buffing Cassia and Pascal.

Best Idira Talents in Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader

This is the list of best talents for Idira in Rogue Trader:

  • Dismantling Attack: This skill is a boss killer on Idira. She immediately inflicts one exploit on all enemies in combat, making a free attack against the target, which never misses. Until the end of combat, the target of this attack will suffer a 30% penalty to dodge and armor value.
  • Advice and Guidance: Whenever you want to buff up Heinrix, Abelard, or Argenta, use this talent to boost your weapon and ballistic skills.
  • Nimble: We want to take Nimble on Idire to make her agile enough to avoid traps and dodge enemy attacks.
  • Fatebringer: Boosts Idira's armor percentage, making her tankier.
  • Predicted Downfall: This is yet another debuff talent where enemies are getting even more dodge penalties.
  • Psy Rating: Boosts Idira's access to new psychic powers while also boosting her damage in combat. Choose this talent whenever you have a chance to upgrade it.
  • Visions of Doom: Yet again, a talent which lowers dodge and parry of enemies. It works by stacking a -5 % penalty until the end of combat.
  • Mind Siege: Inflicts additional mental damage together with base damage health by a psyker power.
  • It Will Not Die: Increases the number of wounds on Idira by 50%, rounding up.

Best Idira Skills in Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader

Here are some of the best skills for Idira in Rogue Trader:

  • Logic: Logic is good to take on Idira because it boosts Intelligence, which is her base Characteristic as a psyker. It also advances her Archetype toward becoming the Bounty Hunter.
  • Awareness: Raises Idira's Perception, making her even better at dodging enemy attacks.
  • Lore (Xenos): Represents knowledge of the alien species discovered by the Imperium, helping Idira fight them more effectively.

Best Idira Weapons & Items in Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader

The best items to choose for Idira in Rogue Trader are those that boost her Perception and Willpower. Moreover, any items that affect the armor and dodge level of enemies are also welcome. Here is the list of the best items you can obtain in the early game of Rogue Trader that will be perfect for this Idira build:

  • Wraithbone Staff: Gives Idira the consign ability, lowering the chance of her Divination psychic powers to degrade the veil. It also boosts her Willpower and Perception.
  • Warp Conductor Gloves: Boost Idira's psy rating and momentum, granting her temporary wounds equal to her Resolve by the end of combat after triggering a psychic phenomena or perils of the warp.
  • Sniper Rifle: If, for whatever reason, you decide you've had enough of the perils of the warp constantly plaguing your runs and getting you down while you try to do some damage, you can always pull out a sniper rifle and start blasting. While Idira should primarily focus on rebuffing enemies, sometimes a more direct approach is necessary.

How to play Idira in Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader

To properly play Idira in Rogue Trader, start by Analyse Enemies Ability and proceed to cast Expose Weakness on them. Buff allies with Prescience and Blind as you see fit, then proceed to do damage. Here are some general tips when using her abilities:

  • Always combine Analyze Enemies and Expose Weaknesses in tandem for best results.
  • Buff up Perception on Idira as much as possible because, ideally, you want to make her into a Bounty hunter archetype.
  • Psychic Shriek will be your primary source of damage that you get right at the beginning for free. It's a single-target, 2AP ability with a solid radius. It's multiplied by the psy rating, hence the need to boost that number as much as possible. It raises the veil degradation rating, so be careful when using this ability and don't spam it.
  • If enemies are targeting you, Forewarning is a good countermeasure.
  • Use Dismantling Attack on bosses because it reduces their Armor and Dodge, stripping them of those abilities that make them hard to kill.

Positioning Idira is the key to success, as you typically want her in the back but not too far from the action, as her Psychic Shriek doesn't have unlimited range. You'll also want to stick close to other ranged allies to provide them with buffs more effectively.
