Palworld – All elements, strengths, and weaknesses

I'll just use a gun.

Battling against Pals is one of my favorite features in Palworld, allowing my party members to show off their powerful moves and partner abilities. If you want to get the upper hand in battle, use the type chart below to learn every elemental strength and weakness in Palworld.

What are types in Palworld?

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Types, or elements, are categories assigned to every move and every Pal in Palworld. When Pals engage in combat, their types factor into how much damage they will deal to each other. For example, using a Water-type move on a Fire-type Pal will deal more damage than a Dragon or Neutral move. A Pal's elemental typing also plays a role in its work suitability; Ice-type Pals typically have Cooling, while Grass-types tend to have Planting.

As you can see in the chart, most elements have one strength and one weakness. There are, however, two exceptions: Fire is strong against two types, while Neutral isn't strong against any. When you use a move type that is strong against a Pal, a message will appear on your screen confirming that the move was "highly effective," indicating its elemental advantage. Any Pal that is "highly effective" against another Pal will also be resistant against them, plus any Pals of the same Type as them (i.e. Fire Types will be resistant against Grass Types, Ice Types, and Fire Types).

Do Dual-Type Pals have more weaknesses in Palworld?

While the majority of Pals only have one type, certain Pals have two, such as the Water/Ice-type Pengullet. In this case, the Water typing negates Ice's elemental weakness to Fire. Furthermore, it has both the Watering and Cooling work suitabilities that both its types provide. Pals like this can be advantageous, providing additional coverage against other types and negating their own elemental weaknesses.

What is a Stab in Palworld?

A Stab or Same Type Attack Bonus is given when a Pal uses a skill of the same type as them. For example, Foxparks uses a fire-breathing attack. The Stab is a bonus to the damage they are doing by about 20%, giving you a slight advantage. When harvesting Skill Fruits, you will want to pair the skills with Pals of the same type to maximize their effectiveness.

When fighting a particular boss or enemy in the world, consider using a Pal that will be highly effective against them, paying close attention to which Type will provide the most damage based on the enemies' weaknesses. Give Pals new skills of the same Type to boost their damage in battle even more!
