How to get Ancient Civilization Parts in Palworld (Map)

You'll need a lot of these things.

After unlocking Ancient Technology items in Palworld, you'll need to acquire a rare crafting material called Ancient Civilization Parts to make them. Here's how to find and collect Ancient Civilization Parts in Palworld.

Unlike Paldium Fragments, Ancient Civilization Parts aren't a natural resource you can harvest. Ancient Civilization Parts can only be obtained by finding and defeating bosses or completing dungeons.

Bosses are high-level Pals that appear much larger than other members of their species and have higher stats and stronger attacks. These powerful enemies come in two forms: Alpha Pals and dungeon bosses. Boss Pals drop between one and three Ancient Civilization Parts each, and you can fight them as many times as you want (albeit after a short cooldown). Both capturing and knocking out a boss Pal will result in the same drops, so feel free to throw a few Pal Spheres if you want to catch it.

What are Alpha Pals in Palworld?

Alpha Pals will appear on your map with small icons that indicate the Pal's name, appearance, and level, allowing you to prepare in advance. The Alpha Pal may be alone or in a small group of weaker Pals, but you only need to defeat the Alpha to get the Ancient Civilization Parts. All Alpha Pals spawn near a fast travel point, so take advantage and gear up back at your base before you take them on.

Some Alpha Pals roam around the overworld near their spawn location, such as Mammorest; others spawn in a small room underground accessible via a small blue portal. Both provide the same number of Ancient Civilization Parts, but any battle in an enclosed space will be more difficult than fighting in the open. Bring Pals with AoE attacks to take advantage of the close proximity.

What are dungeons in Palworld?

Dungeons are harder to track down, as they don't appear on your map. The only way to find a dungeon is to search the island for large, dark cave entrances. You'll know you've found one when you approach the cave and see a timer appear on your screen. I highly suggest marking dungeons on your map to keep track of their locations.

Each dungeon features a long, nonlinear cave that has both humans and Pals waiting inside. You'll collect plenty of loot along the way, but only the boss Pal at the end will give you Ancient Civilization Parts. Every dungeon boss I've faced has spawned with a group of smaller Pals, so be prepared to take on multiple enemies at once.

How to use Ancient Civilization Parts in Palworld

With the exception of Feed Bags, Ancient Civilization Parts are necessary for crafting all of the Ancient Technology structures and items in Palworld. However, some standard items require them as well, such as the following:

  • Mega Shield
  • Giga Shield
  • Hyper Shield

Ancient Civilization Parts can also be sold for 100 gold coins each, a much better price than other crafting materials in Palworld. However, I only recommend selling them once you've already crafted all of the Ancient Technology items available. If you decide to sell them, the easiest way to do so is to head to the Wandering Merchant at Small Settlement, as he spawns near a fast travel point.
