How to fix the infinite loading issue in Palworld

A serious game-breaking bug to spoil all the fun...

The infinite loading problem is one of Palworld's most critical issues that is currently plaguing the game's community. As a game-breaking bug, it is on Pocketpair's radar, but here's what you can do to dampen some of the damage.

How to get past the infinite load problem in Palworld (Fix)

As far as critical bugs go, it doesn't get much worse than one that can cause you to lose significant progress. The infinite load screen problem is one such issue. It is specific to Dedicated Servers, so if you're not playing on one, then you won't have to worry about it. However, if you're playing with a group of more than four as I have been, then this is a very serious issue with solutions that are less than favorable.

To be clear, to fix this problem, the host needs to attempt one of the two following solutions.

  • Load a Backup Save - Palworld Dedicated Servers occasionally save the progress of all character data and the game's world state for that session. The host will need to replace the current corrupted save with one of their working backups. This does mean a rollback is likely for your server's progress. If your host doesn't have any backup saves, then this solution cannot be used.
  • Delete Character Data - If the above solution is impossible for your host, then the only other option is to delete all the character data on your dedicated server. This means that all players will be forced to start from scratch in terms of Pal and Character progression. The world state and base progression, however, will be preserved.

Pocketpair has acknowledged the issue and is working on a fix, so if you'd prefer to wait for that, you certainly can. My group and I have decided to wait before messing with saves, as a critical issue of this caliber simply cannot exist for long if Palworld is to remain a healthy game in the eyes of the internet. Pocketpair has classified this problem as critical, so I can't imagine a long wait.

How to prevent the infinite load issue in Palworld

The cause of this problem has been heavily rumored to be related to the game's Guilds system. Specifically, if someone in your guild decides to leave it while other members of the guild are offline, data corruption of all offline characters occurs, leading to the infinite load screen problem. To prevent this then, do not attempt to leave any guild until the issue has been officially resolved by Pocketpair.

Update: We are still receiving reports that some players still getting the infinite load screen issue, despite a recent hotfixed deployed by Pocketpair. If you're still suffering from this issue, Pocketpair has acknowledged that the issue still persists for some and is still being worked on. When we receive word, we'll update again.
