Fix those pesky stutters!

Ways to fix stuttering and FPS drops in Last Epoch

There are various methods you can use to increase performance in Last Epoch, most of which will take little time and effort. If the first fix you try doesn't work, don't get discouraged—try a combination of multiple fixes since one of these is bound to do the trick.

If you're playing on Steam Deck, try your hand at finding the best settings to find the right balance of performance and fidelity!

Limit FPS to 59

An unusual way to prevent stuttering is to set the FPS limit to 59, which makes the game render below the v-sync back buffer and improves stability. Here's how to do it:

  1. Start Last Epoch and select your character.
  2. Press Esc and click on Settings.
  3. Click on Graphics and check the Limit FPS option.
  4. Set the Maximum FPS bar to 59.

Set game to High Priority on Task Manager

PC games are resource intensive programs, and Last Epoch is no exception. To get the best performance possible, you'll need to divert as much of your PC's resources towards running the game. Follow the steps below:

  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Escape to launch the Task Manager.
  2. Select the Details tab.
  3. Right-click LastEpoch.exe and find Select Priority.
  4. Click on High.

Update graphics drivers

You won't need the most powerful CPU to run Last Epoch, but graphics-wise, you'll need to have a decent GPU with freshly updated drivers. Go to your graphics card manufacturer's website (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, etc.), download and install the latest drivers to ensure you're getting the most out of your GPU.

Disable full screen optimizations in Windows

Although full-screen optimization is designed to help games run better, sometimes it does the exact opposite. Luckily, you can disable it by following these steps:

  1. Right-click on the Last Epoch's shortcut.
  2. Select Show more options (only on Windows 11)
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Click on the Compatibility tab.
  5. Check Disable fullscreen optimizations.

Update the game

If you're playing offline, chances are you're missing out on playing the latest version of Last Epoch. The game's performance gets more stable after every update, so make sure that your game is up to date, and the stability issues will subside.

Enable Streamer Mode

Streamer Mode focuses on balancing out latency issues and improving stability so that streamers can have a stress-free experience. If it works for them, it's worth a shot for you!
