Try to make all the right choices!

There isn't a better collaboration I can think of than between Supermassive Games and Behaviour Interactive—studios that have made two of my favorite games. I'm expecting a lot from The Casting of Frank Stone.

Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology, and The Quarry have been some great (and not so great releases) from Supermassive Games. Now, they are taking a turn at exploring the Entity's Realm and telling a new story, just like Project T is doing.

As a big fan of these narrative horror games, I was extremely happy when The Casting of Frank Stone was announced. The new gameplay trailer, which you can check below, only raises my hopes for an amazing game.

The story is set in Cedar Hills in the summer of 1980. Four friends are trying to shoot a horror masterpiece but end up in horror themselves. They decide to explore the Mill, but they encounter more than they bargained for.

While Frank Stone—a serial killer whose legacy looms over the town—is set up as the main villain, everyone talks about him in the past tense. Considering we get glimpses of the supernatural occurring in the trailer as well as a shot of the sky with a creature similar to the Mindflayer (that is probably the Entity), I'm guessing that Frank Stone will be back. As DBD players know, there is no escape for the Survivors nor for the Killers.

The game's format will follow the usual Supermassive standard of many branching choices that affect the lives of your characters and whether they even stay alive. Of course, you can't forget the fun environmental puzzles and QTEs. I'm hoping they take it to the extreme and make it so that many choices and missing QTEs instantly kill you; I enjoy when I'm terrified at all times of killing my characters and knowing that any decision I make could be their last.

There is a chance of a crossover between The Casting of Frank Stone and Dead by Daylight. While nothing has been confirmed just yet, I suspect that the serial Killer Frank Stone will be making it over to the Trials, maybe dragging one of the filmmaker's friends with him.

As for the other way around, we have already seen someone holding a Huntress mask in the gameplay trailer. I definitely screamed when I saw it since she is my favorite Killer in DBD. We'll have to wait and find out what relevance she has for The Casting of Frank Stone, or if it's just a fun Easter egg for us fans.

They did not skip the iconic DBD hooks either. In the trailer, you'll see one girl get impaled on a hook, releasing a scream familiar to anyone who has played Dead by Daylight. I have to wonder if that means instant death or if we'll get the chance to get her off the hook as a different character.

What is The Casting of Frank Stone release date?

There is currently no exact release date for the Casting of Frank Stone (much to my disappointment). However, we do know that the developers are committed to their original 2024 deadline. Hopefully, that means we will see the game sometime before the end of the year. Keep in mind that delays can happen, but let's not jinx it.
