Destiny 2 Still Hunt Exotic Sniper Guide – Info, Exotic Perks, and Synergies

I need it.

Final Shape is here, and with it comes a flood of treats for both new and old players alike. One of these treats that's on everyone's mind is the Still Hunt, a slick new exotic rifle that's turning heads as the days go by. And what a treat it is!

The Still Hunt is an Exotic Sniper Rifle that players can earn in The Final Shape. A Solar Sniper Rifle with the Adaptive Frame archetype, it can be equipped in the Energy weapon slot of your inventory.

Judging from the stats alone, Still Hunt stands at the middle ground of most snipers. The Range and Stability are not quite as high as other Adaptive Frame snipers in the Energy slot, but it does boast an above-average Handling of 62. Thanks to that, readying, swapping, and aiming with this gun should feel quite snappy and comfortable to use. But this all pales in comparison to the real star of the show: the exotic perks.

Still Hunt's exotic perks in Destiny 2

Below are Still Hunt's exotic perks in Destiny 2:

Cayde's Retribution

Still Hunt has a special meter, which can only be filled by either picking up Orbs of Power or landing precision hits with the weapon itself. Once full, you can use the Special Reload input to activate Cayde's Retribution, a "super state" that mimics the Marksman Golden Gun Super. You get three shots, with each shot getting higher precision damage as you go. These can be used in any way you like until the meter runs out.

So, you essentially have a free Golden Gun on a Special Sniper that is usable by any class. And all you have to do is hit your crits or pick up orbs of power, both of which are super common things to do! This gun is clearly meant to offer a lot of potency in an easy-to-use package. Another massive selling point here is that Hunters can use the Celestial Nighthawk helmet with this gun to transform the three shots into one powerful blast.

This synergy is crazy strong, as Still Hunt gets the same exact benefits from Celestial, just like the original Super. This "super state" doesn't replace your equipped Super either, essentially giving you two entire supers to use as you please. And since this gun's mechanic TECHNICALLY counts as a Super, it will also automatically fill up to max when interacting with a Raid Banner in-game.

Sharpshooter

This perk grants passive bonuses to target acquisition, aim down sight speed, and flinch resistance when using Still Hunt. And when you activate Cayde's Retribution, the bonuses will get even stronger.

While it's not incredibly unique, this perk is a godsend for a rifle like Still Hunt. For a weapon that's built around landing clean, precise shots, this perk will help you keep a steady aim at all times. It's especially important to get that extra bonus when you activate Cayde's Retribution — no one wants to waste their Super, after all.

Golden Munitions

This is the last unique perk on Still Hunt, found in the magazine perk slot. When activating Cayde's Retribution, you'll get three shots generated from thin air. The ammo economy of this weapon is fantastic, to say the least. If you can just fill up that bar to get Cayde's Retribution ready, you can get three shots any time, any place, even if you've run out of ammo.

How to get Still Hunt in Destiny 2

The Still Hunt is acquired through the Wild Card exotic quest, which is available after clearing The Final Shape's campaign. It's an easy quest that's meant to give us more narrative interactions with Cayde-6 and Crow rather than offer any challenges or puzzles. Just follow the steps and missions as you go, and you'll get your own Still Hunt in a matter of minutes.

Anyone who's even remotely interested in playing Destiny 2's endgame PvE content should prioritize getting the Still Hunt as soon as possible. This gun is a very, very big game changer for the endgame of Destiny 2. It may not have the best stats for base performance, but the exotic perk alone sets this apart from several other DPS options for Raids, Dungeons, and Nightfall Strikes.

Having a free second Super packed into your Special ammo weapon is huge, especially when it's not restricted to any class or subclass. If the boss you're facing has a weak spot for precision hits, always have this gun at the ready. Until next time, Guardians.
