Blox Fruits Scandal: Here’s why players are upset over Dragon Tokens

All about the controversey!

After almost a year, Blox Fruits released its highly anticipated Dragon Update, and players worldwide jumped into the action the minute it went live, anticipating significant changes. While there are no new major elements, the update introduced a change in an already existing mechanic, which has sparked controversy. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Blox Fruits Dragon Tokens Controversy

Given its name, the new update was only expected to expand upon the already existing Dragon Fruit in the game; however, players were surprised to learn that they'd have to give up the fruit as it's being phased out. Taking its place is the new Dragon Fruit, which costs 10,000,000 in-game currency or 5,000 Robux (~ 62 USD).

Since getting the (now called classic) fruit was not an easy task, as it cost 3,500,000 in-game currency or 2,600 Robux (~ 32 USD), many players opted for the Robux way. The main reason for the controversy is that players would now have to grind for the fruit or repurchase it, instead of getting a free replacement. On top of this, the mastery level on the fruit has now been reset, which means players would have to start all over again after they get the new fruit.

This is where the new Dragon Tokens come in. They have been added to players' inventory in place of the Classic Dragon Fruit and can be used to either get a discount on the new Dragon Fruit or for other items. If you had the Permanent Dragon Fruit, it has been replaced with the Permanent Dragon Token, and if you had a physical Dragon Fruit, it has been replaced with a regular Dragon Token.

You can convert both of these into a random Mythical Fruit by hitting the Activate button or exchange them for one of the following:

  • New Permanent Dragon Fruit at a discount (2,400 Robux)
  • Dark Blade, 2x Mythical Scrolls, 2x Legendary Scrolls, and Extra Fragments (sent to storage)
  • 2x Money, 2x Boss Drops, 2x Master, Fast Boats, 1 Fruit Storage, and Extra Fragments (sent to storage)
  • Permanent Dough Fruit and Flame Fruit (sent to storage)

Players, especially those who purchase the fruit, are alleging that they have been scammed and are entitled to a refund, and many have taken to Discord and Reddit, voicing their frustration. A post on the subreddit with almost 900 upvotes reads:

They deleted our dragons and replaced them with tokens for a random mythic fruit. Save your tokens. There will be backlash and possibly a chance to get our dragons back. They also deleted perm dragons. Do not let them hear the end of this.

Players on X (formerly Twitter) are also posting about how the update has disappointed them:

Many YouTubers have also posted videos alleging that Dragon Fruit owners have been scammed. Other players have resorted to reporting the game on the platform for breaking its terms of service, citing that the change undermines the value of their purchase.

In an announcement on Discord, Blox Fruit devs said that they are working on a solution for this situation, especially for players who own permanent fruit.

We are working on a solution to the Dragon Token situation.

We will be implementing a change for players who previously owned the Permanent Dragon prior to today's update. Give us time to implement this.
