What is Dark Essence – How to get it in Age of Darkness: Final Stand

Age of Darkness: Final Stand is a brutal and difficult game that will test you in many ways. You have to manage base building, resource gathering, building your army, and upgrading your forces to combat the ever-present nightmares that come in swarms at night.

One resource that is hard to get but vital to your survival is Dark Essence. This resource can only be gathered by killing elite nightmares or reaching the Death Night crystals that spawn on the map. There are two primary reasons that you want Dark Essence.

The first reason is that Dark Essence is a requirement to upgrade your army. Most upgrades require gold, iron, stone, or wood. But your final upgrades will require Dark Essence. Without it, you cannot have your army at full strength, which will be essential later.

The second reason is to revive your champion. Should they fall in battle, you will face a lengthy respawn time. However, you can use Dark Essence to instantly revive your hero. If your champion falls and you find yourself in a dire situation, you do not want to wait for the timer because you could very well lose the game in that time.
