How to Make Paper in Aloft

Aloft is a farming simulation that encourages you to explore. While you're out and about, you will find a whole lot of materials, and one of the most important of those is paper.

Where to Find Paper in Aloft

Before you are able to make paper in Aloft, you can find it laying around in ruins of old towns and houses. When you find a man-made ruin somewhere, you should look for a book with its pages ruffling in the wind (you can also hear the pages fluttering around). Pick them up by hitting the interact button. There are a limited number of these pages in the world, but you should still be able to get enough to learn how to build a lot of things before you run out.

How to Make Paper

Once you start unlocking recipes, you will eventually be able to make your own paper from scratch. In order to do this, you will need to build a Workbench. You can find this recipe as one of the original few recipes on the main starting islands. In the Workbench's recipe menu, mix together one Glasswort, three Small Plants, and one Clean Water. You cannot use dirty water for this recipe.

This will give you Paper Pulp. Go back into the Workbench and combine five Paper Pulps to make one sheet of Paper. Here are the places you can get all the ingredients you'll need for Paper Pulp.

• Clean Water: Mix Charcoal and Dirty Water in your crafting menu or at the Workbench.
• Small Plants: Using a Sickle, cut down any of the plants growing around; most will yield some of these little green leaves.
• Glasswort: This plant can be found on some islands; it kind of looks like coral. I have included a screenshot of what it looks like below. You need a Sickle to collect it, and it also gives Small Plants when cut down.

What is the use of Paper in Aloft?

The reason why paper is so important is that you need it to learn new recipes. Every time you come across something out in the world that you have never been able to build, you can sketch it in a sketchbook to learn how to make it yourself. In order to do this, you will need plenty of charcoal and paper pages on which to doodle the items you find. You also need paper to make a Field Guide, which you will need to fix ecosystems on islands.
