How to check which Survival Item your squadmate has in Apex Legends

Survival is a team effort.

The Survival Slot was added to the Apex Legends inventory in Season 8: Mayhem. For the first four seasons it was around, there was no way to tell what Survival Item was in your squadmates’ Survival Slot. Now, thanks to an update in the Season 12: Defiance patch, that has changed. Now you can check what Survival Items everyone has from the Inventory screen. Here’s how.

From the main Heads-Up Display (HUD), you can only see what shield your squadmates have. But from the Inventory screen, you can see what Helmet, Body Shield, Knockdown Shield, Backpack, and Survival items they each have. The Survival Item is shown in the right-most position in the row of your squadmate’s gear. Either the slot will be empty or show a Heat Shield or Mobile Respawn Beacon.

Checking if any squadmate needs a Survival Item

While you can’t check which squadmate has what or needs it, you can check if any teammate needs a Survival Item without going into the Inventory screen. If you hover over any Survival Item on the ground, and there is a hand-raised icon in the information box, at least one of your squadmates has room to carry a Survival Item.
