New Apex Legends updates are always exciting, but sometimes when you update, your game doesn’t look as planned. If you are playing on PC, and after an update, have missing textures or solid black textures over some of the entities or geometry in your game, don’t worry. There is a fix.
The fix is slightly different based on which launcher you use, Origin has a ‘repair’ system, and Steam has a ‘verification’ system. These do slightly different things, but both will fix your glitching game. This will take a bit of time, so be cautious that it will take longer for you to play, but it will fix all errors. Let’s take a look.
Verifying Apex Legends on Steam
- Close Apex Legends if it is open
- Go to your Steam Library tab
- Find Apex Legends
- Right click on it and go to Properties
- Within the Properties menu, go to Local Files
- Click Verify integrity of game files… in order to verify your game and fix missing and black textures
- Wait until your game has been verified, then open Apex Legends

Repairing Apex Legends on Origin
- Close Apex Legends if it is open
- Go to your Origin My Game Library tab
- Find Apex Legends
- Click on the Settings gear icon for the game
- Click Repair in order to repair your game and fix missing and black textures
- Wait until your game has been repaired, then open Apex Legends
If you are only missing a few textures and you really want to play an update, you can always wait to verify or repair until after you are done playing for the day. However, if you are missing a lot of textures, the fix should be performed as soon as possible.
