How to use the Communication Filter in Apex Legends

Set your boundaries in real time.

Are you sick of random players on mic or text chat? Do you want to better curate your Apex Legends experience? Well, you can. Introduced in Season 12: Defiance, the Communication Filter helps Apex Legends players choose who they do (and don’t) want to talk to. The filter is currently pretty basic, but it’s definitely better than not having anything. Here is how to use the Communication Filter in Apex Legends.

All Communication Filter Options

There are currently three Communication Filter options.

  • Everyone
    • All voice and text chat from all players
  • Friends
    • Voice and text chat from only players in your friends list
  • Off (No One)
    • No voice or text chat

Individual players’ voice and text chat can be turned on even if the filter is keeping them out. This is ideal for playing with a friend’s friend, or the same random a lot, and you have good games. Currently, there is no filter for ‘group.’
