Is ARK Survival Ascended ARK 2?

Is ARK Survival Ascended the same as ARK 2?

ARK Survival Ascended is, in fact, not at all related to ARK 2. Ark Survival Ascended is a next-gen Unreal Engine 5 remake of the ARK Survival Evolved, featuring most of the same mechanics and a similar official map. While the two games (ARK Survival Ascended and ARK Survival Evolved) are plucked from the same tree, there are several key differences between them that set them apart. You can think of ARK Survival Ascended as an optional upgrade to the original game, rather than a sequel.

Is ARK 2 the sequel to ARK Survival Evolved?

ARK 2 is the direct sequel to ARK Survival Evolved, and it takes place after the events of the game's last DLC release, ARK Genesis. While much of the game is still surrounded by mystery, we know some critical information about what it will contain.

One of the most significant changes to ARK 2 when compared to its predecessor is how it will approach moment-to-moment gameplay. ARK 2 will shift its focus from the Survival-genre staple to a Souls-like combat system and place a greater emphasis on the primitive aspects of technology. With such a drastic change in gameplay priority, it remains to be seen how much DNA will be retained from the game's predecessor or the Survival genre.
