Oasisaur Taming, Feeding, & Breeding Guide – ARK Scorched Earth Ascended

Subjugate the moving oasis in no-time!

Oasisaur is the most enormous creature in Scorched Earth, but rather than being in awe of its size and presence, my first instinct was learning how to make myself its master. In that regard, here's a detailed guide on taming, breeding, and feeding the Oasisaur in ARK Scorched Earth Ascended.

Besides its imposing size, the Oasisaur's advantage lies in its ability to fly and move (albeit slowly) across the map. Thanks to the large oasis biome attached to its back, I created a mobile base on top of an Oasisaur. Similar to the Fasolasuchus, the Oasisaur can bury itself into the sand and hide its body underneath a seemingly regular oasis area. As a bonus, the resources on top of it are renewable!

The in-depth tutorial below lays out the steps I took to tame the Oasisaur, feed it, and my attempts to spawn baby Oasisaurs. If you spot an Oasisaur in the wild but are unable to interact with it, it means you haven't purchased the ARK: Bob's Tall Tales DLC required to tame it.

Preparing for the Oasisaur's taming is half the battle. Firstly, you need to choose one of your tame creatures and sacrifice it to claim its Death Essence. Next, dismantle the dinosaur's remains and pick up the essence from its inventory before heading to find an Oasisaur to tame.

Oasisaurs roam the desert dunes surrounding the central area of the map. You'll usually spot one Oasisaur, with slim chances of meeting two on the same map. If you grabbed the essence beforehand, you'll need to be quick since the essence expires in 24 hours.

Once you spot an Oasisaur, use tools to get to his back. If you have Tek Armor equipped, the jetpack will get you on its back in no time. Alternatively, use a Climbing Pick or a Crossbow equipped with a Grappling Hook to reach the top.

After climbing on top of an Oasisaur, enter its lake to access the lake inventory. Place the Death Essence into the inventory and wait a few moments. Soon enough, waves of flying creatures, including VulturesWyverns, and Dimorphodons, will start attacking you.

To fight off these waves, you'll need a ranged weapon or a firearm. Wait until the creatures get closer before shooting since they're tough to hit long distances. Eventually, your deceased tamed creature will reincarnate and enter the Oasisaur's body, thus completing the taming process.

Congratulations, you're now the proud owner of the mighty Oasisaur. Now that you've tamed it, the Oasisaur will gain a tremendous appetite you need to satisfy. Otherwise, you'll lose it and make your creature's sacrifice in vain.

To feed the Oasisaur, you'll need Plant Pots. You can craft a pot using 50 Cementing Paste and 10 Stone. Once you have the pots, approach a bush and use a shovel to dig. By digging the bushes, you'll be filling the pots with earth and plants. It's that simple!

Oncew you've filled all of your pots, approach the Oasisaur and access its inventory. Place all of the pots into the Oasisaur's inventory, and it will start eating them right away.

Here's the deal: the Oasisaur starts at level 1, which means it only needs a little food initially. But as it levels up, its appetite will skyrocket. If you don't keep up with its food demands, it can go through dozens of pots in just 10 seconds. To prevent this, consider teaming up with a friend to feed the Oasisaur in shifts.

How to breed Oasisaur in ARK Scorched Earth Ascended

Unfortunately, there's no way to breed Oasisaurs. Seemingly due to their size, the map couldn't handle more than two Oasisaurs at a time, which is why you'll rarely stumble upon the second Oasisaur, let alone a female one.
