ACS Anomaly Armored Core 6 – Explained

Build-up effects, with a minor twist

As you're playing through Armored Core 6, you may come across a message in the middle of your screen that states something along the lines of ACS Anomaly. It may be color-coded depending on what's happening, but there's not much indication of what this message actually means. Thankfully, it isn't all that complicated to understand, especially for fans of the Dark Souls series. More on that in a moment. Here's everything you need to know about the ACS Anomaly message in Armored Core 6.

What does ACS Anomaly mean in Armored Core 6?

ACS Anomaly is the in-universe name for a Status Effect, or Aiment, in Armored Core 6. I mentioned the Souls series because ACS Anomaly functions exactly the same way as Statuses do in those games. When you take enough damage from the source of an ACS Anomaly, you'll be struck with their build-up effects. The message that pops up on your screen appears when you're taking damage from something that is building up an ACS Anomaly. There are three known types of ACS Anomaly effects in Armored Core 6:

Related: What does Access Speed in Armored Core 6 do?

  • Electric Discharge ACS - Causes an electric explosion on you that deals significant Impact damage
  • Jamming ACS - Greatly hampers your weapon tracking and lock-on capacities for a time
  • Heat ACS - Greatly increases your Impact received damage for a time

Note that suffering the initial effects of any ACS Anomaly means you'll stagger as if your poise was just broken. The other effects continue to persist for a short time.

ACS Anomalies are incredibly rare in Armored Core 6, so it isn't uncommon to not even notice the build-up of one, even through a full playthrough. Balteus, for example, applies the Heat ACS when it hits you with any of hits flame-based attacks, but it's easy to not notice it when you're in the midst of one of its glorious missile storms. Still, it's good to know what's coming should you come across them.
