How to Reach the Adamantine Forge in Baldur’s Gate 3

Forge brilliant weapons.

In Baldur's Gate 3, the Adamantine Forge holds great importance, as it lets you craft powerful weapons and armor for your entire party to use. However, reaching the Forge can be tricky, and even when you do, the real challenge begins when you have to face a boss after activating it. If you need some help, here's how you can find the Adamantine Forge and activate it in BG3.

The Adamantine Forge is located southwest of the Grymforge area in the Underdark. First head to the Decrepit Village near the Underdark Beach Waypoint (see map above), where you will meet Duergars who have a boat that leads to the Grymforge. Whether you want to eliminate the Duergars is up to you, but either way, you will need to use their boats to progress.

Interact with the boat near the Beach Waypoint to head to Grymforge. Take the stairs to the north, go up, and you will discover the Underdark Grymforge waypoint (the purple-colored Ancient Sigil). From here, take the next set of stairs to the north, making a sharp left turn to reach the main chamber room of the Grymforge.

This is where you will meet Nere; if you kill him, you can take his head to the Myconid Colony later. Come to the edge of the rock formations overlooking the lava in the northwest corner of this chamber where you found Nere.

If you have Misty Step or Flight Spell, you can easily take one person at a time from this point to the higher ground above. After you make the second jump from there, you will find the Ancient Forge Waypoint on your right.

Remember, if one member of your party has unlocked the Ancient Forge Waypoint, you can easily teleport the other members. To do this, switch to the other members, open the map, and fast-travel to the waypoint.

So, after you have reached the Ancient Forge Waypoint, take the stairs just opposite it. Bring your party members down using the stairs, but be careful as the stairs are broken midway (so you need to jump to the other half of the stairs). Getting down the staircase will lead you to the Adamantine Forge.

Once you have reached the Adamantine Forge, you will need Mithral Ore and any one mold such as the Longsword, Shield, or Splint. Once you have collected the two items required to forge weapons or gear, equip the mold into the mold chamber, and insert the Mithral Ore into the crucible. (Check the image above to see how it exactly looks.) The last step is to interact with the Forge Lever just behind the crucible and then select the Lava Valve. However, be prepared for tough combat with the Grym boss after you use the Lava Valve.

How to get Mithral Ore in BG3 (Map)

You will find two pieces of Mithral Ore near the Adamantine Forge. (Check the yellow circles on the map image to see the exact two locations.)

For the first piece, go down the stairs opposite the waypoint to the Forge and turn left to find the glowing blue-colored veins on the rock formations. Be careful of the Magma Memphit you need to eliminate before you get to the ore. To mine the Mithral Ore, use weapons like maces that deal Bludgeoning damage.

To get the second piece of Mithral Ore, head back to the Ancient Forge Waypoint area, take the path behind the animated armor on your right, jump over the lava, and you should see the glowing ore deposits. You'll be ambushed by Magma enemies at this spot as well, so be prepared for a fight.
