Black Skylands Patch Notes (March 2024)

Black Skylands is an early access title with amazing potentially. It features many aspects of various genres into one top-down adventure game. Roam the skies in your airship, and take down a rogue group known as the Falconer's and fight a more deadly threat, a species known as the Swarm!

Black Skylands July 30 Patch Notes

SKYSHIPS

Stingray has been redesigned

  • Width greatly reduced;.
  • Balloons moved under the hull;.
  • Cannons can now be directed at 180 degrees (forward).
  • Base durability increased from 400 to 450.
  • Needle’s base durability increased from 370 to 430.
  • The width of all controllable skyships has been slightly reduced.
  • Increased shield duration from 1.2 to 1.8 seconds.
  • Increased shield energy cost from 4 to 5.
  • Reduced the spread of the Three-Shot Cannon.
  • Reduced the damage of the Automatic Cannon.
  • Reduced the damage of the Hunter’s Rocket Cannon.
  • Reduced the damage of the Swarm Cannon.
  • Swarm Cannon can now overheat.
  • Changed the upgrade that reduces cannon overheating (level 1: -20% (instead of -40%), level 2: -40% (instead of -80%).
  • Re-balanced the parameters of skyship cannons overheating.
  • Elephant now can have the maximum of 5 hull breaches instead of 4.
  • Changed tier 2 shielders’ rate of turn: now they move similarly to the rest of the shielders.
  • Fixed shielders’ rate of turn change during pause and time stop.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed a tablet bug where the controls were not blocked in some windows.
  • Fixed a bug where you could leave the helm while interacting with the tablet.
  • Fixed the Swarm plant damage bug in the Swarm Zone.
  • Fixed a bug where you couldn’t control the skyship after leaving the shipyard.
  • Fixed an issue where, in the Swarm boss’s attack on the Moth Village cutscene, the player was "turned off" for the duration of one frame and started the fight stuck in the animation without a weapon.
  • Fixed an issue where in the radial menu in the Equipment window when switching to the Modify window, button navigation stopped functioning.
  • Fixed the gate at the location of the Moth Nest.
  • Fixed an issue where Eva filled all the first-aid kit slots and it was still possible to pick up another one from a flower (now it is indicated that all the slots are full).

MAP MENU

  • Fixed the Fathership location name and flag mapping.
  • Resource icons are now visible when you zoom the camera close enough for the location names to appear - and vice versa.
  • The map legend now takes up less space.
  • Added gradients around the edges to improve the readability of the control hints and legend.
  • Disabled the outdated marking of the Western Aspya region.

GRAPHICS

  • Improved the design of the "Moth Nest" location.
  • Improved the design of the "Wing Islands" location.
  • Improved the design of the "Big Water Island" location.
  • Improved the design of the "Broken Stairs" location.
  • Improved the design of the "Windyriver" location.
  • Improved the design of the "Sickle Archipelago" location.

OTHER

  • Luma’s ability to transfer resources is now unlocked immediately after the prologue.
  • Luma now carries things and the player faster.
  • While aboard a skyship, you can now look around by holding down the spacebar and using the mouse.
  • Increased power of tier 3 ground enemies.
  • Enemy power is now updated not only when enemies spawn but also after closing the tablet.
  • Added several cutscenes with Falcons on various islands.
  • Reduced Swarmlit processing time from 30 to 8 seconds.
  • Increased the chance of Marble dropping in one of the Swarm Zone subzones.
  • Fixed the chance of asteroids dropping coal.
  • When a Falcon skyship is destroyed, a real skyship model falls into the sky instead of just a hull image.
  • Improved memory management when working with navigation grids of some bigger locations.

Black Skylands July 26 Patch Notes

  • Added new enemies: Grabber, Clinger. They draw out resources from the player’s skyship.
  • Changed attack speed parameters for Clingers and Grabbers.
  • Tweaked the way Clingers and Grabbers memorize player’s location.
  • Enemies no longer fall off the islands for no reason.
  • Lancers (human melee enemies) no longer lose sight of the player while preparing their attacks.
  • Fixed Lancers’ sprite and hitbox positions.
  • Fixed a bug in the Swarm zone where you respawned in the sky without a skyship after it had been destroyed.
  • You can now fast travel to gas stations from any point of the map.
  • Doubled the speed with which energy is gravitated towards your skyship.
  • Reduced HP of enhanced opponents.
  • The amplification of opponents who are superior to the player in strength is reduced by 2.5 times.
  • Fixed the sniper rifle active reload bug.
  • Fixed an issue where the next target marker would disappear when fast travelling to the Fathership.
  • Fixed a bug where a panel overlapping the entire screen appeared when the factory assembly line was jammed with crates.
  • The item pick-up sound no longer plays when you are starting the game.
  • Fixed white buttons in pause menu when returning from other settings windows.
  • Autoscroll is now available only on gamepads and keyboards, unavailable on mouse.
  • Fixed a bug where the starting skyship weight was always shown while choosing your skyship in the shipyard.
  • Fixed an issue where, when quickly closing the tablet and opening the menu, the player could still shoot.
  • Removed the notification about adding a gift to the skyship’s hold at the start of the game.
  • Removed the notification about first aid kit and Luma’s energy pick-ups being added to the skyship’s hold.

Changes to the Player.log

  • Removed the redundant notification about the absence of the "WasAggroNotified" component, which littered the log.
  • Removed some of the extra checks, added new ones.
  • A new notification is no longer considered an error and is sent to the informative log.

Black Skylands July 22 Patch Notes

  • Fixed an issue where it was impossible to fast travel to a gas station situated in a different region of the map.
  • Fixed an issue where, when attempting a game load while invincibility was active, the player remained invincible forever.
  • Increased Shards of Fangs drop chance.
  • Reduced the percentage of strengthening of all opponents (if the strength of the enemy is lower) - from 250% to 180%.
  • Fixed an issue where enemies lived with zero health remaining.

Black Skylands July 21 Patch Notes

  • Fixed an issue with switching between store tabs using a gamepad.
  • Improved stability of the island defense cutscene.
  • Increased chance of Broot spawning in South Aspia.
  • Increased chance of Big Scarab spawning in West Aspia.
  • Increased weapon swap speed.
  • Pistols now have infinite ammo.
  • Pistol DPS (damage per second) has been reduced.
  • Improved the quality of world loading after saving the game while sleeping.
  • Fixed the quest conditions counting system.
  • Repair kits and ship ammo are put directly into the hold when purchased on the Fathership.
  • Enemies from tents will now spawn at random locations.
  • Fixed the airborne enemies behavior (Traxes, Jetpackers, Hoverers) - now they don’t break when the player jumps to the ground and leaves the zone of visibility of these enemies.
  • Removed enemies from non-quest tents spawning infinitely.
  • Enlarged passages that were harder to get through using bigger ships.
  • Fixed map navigation using reassigned keys.
  • Added the ability to reassign hotkeys for Map, Diary and Equipment.
  • Fixed an issue where flying enemies sometimes flew to the origin of coordinates when attacking an island.
  • Some buildings now require less resources to construct.
  • Special mods sold in the Armory now require fewer resources to create.
  • The cost of mod boxes sold by merchants has been increased.
  • Fishing difficulty has been lowered.
  • Fishing minigame controls have been changed: you now use 1, 2, 3, 4 instead of WASD. Please, reset the controls to default.
  • Increased the radius for starting the fishing minigame.
  • Farm animals now spawn in predefined locations.
  • The description of the quest where you have to create an anti-Swarm weapon has been made clearer.
  • Boss fights can now be restarted if the player accidentally exited and saved the game.
  • Reduced the difficulty of the final boss.
  • Added a hint for using the shipyard during a mission where the player needs to dock.
  • Removed the stump in the Crash boss fight arena which was dropping 1000 capsules.
  • Removed a twitching stone in a cave on one of the islands.
  • Fixed the next target marker disappearing when opening the hint window immediately after closing the tablet.
  • The chance of coal drops from asteroids has been doubled.

Black Skylands July 15 Patch Notes

  • Luma the Moth doesn’t steal mod boxes anymore.
  • If the ship hold is full, Luma puts a crate next to your ship.
  • Fixed quest mod boxes clearing contents of all subsequently opened mod boxes.
  • Discord invitation now appears only upon exiting the game for the first time.
  • Added autosave upon exiting the game.
  • Added manual save option in the pause menu.
  • Decreased the recurrent island invasion frequency.
  • Eva is now invincible during gate opening and lighthouse sequences.
  • Fixed AI issues: enemies with dead AI, enemies that were getting stuck in the reload animation.
  • Mouse cursor doesn’t go beyond the main screen anymore if the player has two or more screens.
  • Fixed an error in which the fuel tank fill up tip would pop up even if the player wasn’t holding a canister.
  • Fixed an error in which the message about the lack of resources wouldn’t pop up even when the player was out of required resources.
  • Fixed an error in which the "Take the Helm" tip would pop up even if the player’s hands were full.
  • Fixed an error in which the Turtletown liberation icon would appear without the civilian population information.
  • Updated localization.
  • Special mod effects are now removed when a weapon that grants a certain effect is holstered.
  • Removed the gate before the Grizzly Caverns mini-boss.
  • Balanced the Grizzly Caverns mini-boss.
  • Fixed citizens spawning prematurely in Crab Skeet.
  • Fixed disappearing enemies in Iron Burgeon.
  • The unreachable Copper Ore liberation reward in the northern part of the Big Water Island made reachable.
  • Fixed reloading.
  • Fixed the shipyard.
  • Indoor carpet layers updated.
  • You can now purchase Scrap Metal, Gears, Parts and Plates in a shop in Turtletown.
  • Increased Scrap Metal, Parts and Coal drop chance.
  • Fixed Tools not spawning during the "Repairing the shelter" quest. Two tool boxes may now appear in the inventory.
  • Added a nest interaction dialogue to read while the player is unable to summon the bird.
  • Added a dialogue to the first rubble interaction in the "Save the Mines" quest.
  • Fixed the arrows pointing at the rubbles that can be removed with dynamite during the "Save the Mines" quest.
  • Increased acceleration and deceleration parameters for all propellers.
  • Fixed the ship component window freezing after a new ship purchase.
  • Changed the load point for the Elephant to prevent it from bumping into the Fathership.

Black Skylands July 12 Patch Notes

  • Increased stat bonuses granted by ship components, weapons, boots, armor and pouches.
  • Halved the health and damage increase for enemies who are more powerful than the player.
  • Repeated island invasions happen less frequently.
  • The Crash boss doesn’t one shot the player with its projectiles anymore.
  • Updated localization.
  • Added new merchants to Turtletown who sell seeds and livestock. Also, you can now buy most of the resources for capsules in the Turtletown market.
  • Nerfed the fishing minigame difficulty.
  • Airborne Swarm enemies now drop ship energy.
  • Ground Swarm enemies now drop ammo and medkits.
  • Capsule speed doubled.
  • Fixed the disappearing enemies issue.
  • Fixed the issue where the window would switch upon moving the mouse cursor to the second screen.
